Please join us Sunday at 10AM CST as we discuss we leadership, or the lack thereof, in the Black community.
Has the current leadership failed us? Why or why not?
Is it time for the current leadership to share the roles or vacate? It's not as though we need their permission.
What type of leadership is needed in the Black community?
Where do we start? Has the #Ferguson uprising ignited a kindling fire?
What do we need in terms of resources?
Who are our true allies? Have some of our trusted allies betrayed us?
Where are the Democrats?
Why are some wealthy Blacks telling us to stop protesting and go home?
Is prayer the answer?
Why is there a deafening silence in the secular community?
Why do some of these people take our loyalty for granted? Some feel entitled to it.
Is it time for a change? What? Who? Why?
Where do we go from here?
Why are the Millennials so important to this paradigm shift?
Let's talk about. Open discussion. Open chatroom this week.

Join me and my guest Lenese Stephens as we discuss the mental health in the black community. Is the black community still living with the denil that mental health does not exsist. Ms. Stephens will share her knowlege and give us some key points when dealing with a person that is struggling with mental health.
Ms.Stephens received her Master's degree in Community Counseling in 2011 and then went further to complete requirements for her doctoral degree, which is still currently in progress. In 2013, Ms. Stephens became a licensed mental health therapist in the state of Maryland. Once licensed she left her tenure with Fairfax County Government and began offering mental health services to juveniles within Maryland's juvenile detention centers in Baltimore, MD.

Whether it’s a black man struggling with his sexuality, two angry black women at odds with each other, the black man at war with his ex-wife, or sex, lies, murder and corruption… Fox’s new hit drama, “Empire” is the perfect vehicle for the “Powers that Be” to continue flooding the industry with the worst possible images of the black community and perpetuate negative stereotypes associated with our race. Please join me on “The DedanTolbert Show” LIVE TONIGHT at 9:00pm EST, as we discuss “Empire” and the effect it’s having on us as a people. Please join Vida Starr & Emelyne Thursday 5:00PM PST/7:00PM CST/8:00 EST as they discuss domestic violence in the black community. There will be a panel of women discussing this extremely important topic along with paying homage to someone we knew who just lost her life to domestic violence.
A very near and dear friend was killed last night by her husband in a murder-suicide. Angelina was a good woman and good mother whose life was cut brutally short, but we want to help her three orphaned children however we can. All of the money raised will go towards the children's educations. A donation of any amount or simply spreading the word is invaluable. Thank you. ~Emelyne
Mental illness, specifically chronic depression hits the black community more often than any other group, but black Americans are much less likely to seek out professional help. Why does this continue to be taboo?
The American Psychiatric Association further states Culturally diverse groups often bare a disproportionately high burden of disability resulting from mental disorders. This disparity does not stem from a greater prevalence rate or severity of illness in African Americans, but from a lack of culturally competent care, and receiving less or poor quality care.
For some disorders, such as schizophrenia and mood disorders, there is a high probability of misdiagnosis because of differences in how African-Americans express symptoms of emotional distress.
All in all, we have a serious problem with mental illness in the black community and our hope through this conversation is to begin a much needed dialogue in hopes of debunking mental illness myths.
This is part two of a series. The scandal involving Bill Cosby and the rape allegations, is a major topic on the web as of late. The responses have ranged from full support of him, to people wanting his head on a stake. However what is often overlooked is the impact that these discussions are having on the victims of rape and how the ridiculing of the women involved, is ultimately going to prevent even more rape victims from telling what happened to them. The black community has a variety of views and a major one is why the women didn't come forward sooner. In fact, many have gone so far as to saying that the women involved in these allegations are all involved in some grand media conspiracy to "bring the black man down". We will discuss and explore the many aspects of this case, the responses from the black community and the historical norms behind those responses. Please feel free to call in and share your views and remember to follow Progressive Black Thinkers Radio by clicking on the tab.
