Domestic Violence in the NFL (Rice Reinstated) - What Kind Message Did That Decision Deliver?

The NFL was forced to reinstate running back Ray Rice by Judge Barbara Jones, making him eligible to return to the field after missing 11 games during the 2014 season, per multiple sources. The NFL has agreed not to pursue any further punishment for Rice. After the conclusion of an appeal hearing that featured testimony from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, the league lifted its indefinite suspension, which it levied on Sept. 8, an increase of Rice's original two-game suspension.

Domestic violence: The Bureau of Justic Statistics (BJS) summary data bunches domestic crimes with their respective counterparts. Because the vast majority of these are assault cases the assault data was broken into domestic and nondomestic, based on another BJS report which states that approximately 21 percent of violent crimes are domestic. (How exactly that translates into arrests is very tricky; the tentative number closer to 15 percent, but to be conservative, 21 percent baseline for purposes of this analysis). The study did not say that all of the players arrested were guilty, and only a small number are ever prosecuted or disciplined (which is also true to varying degrees for the general public).

Let's discuss this case and what kind of impression the final decision gave other women that are being abused.

Thank you for your continued support.

YOU KNOW WE BOTH WANNA FUCK YOU?

    in Comedy

Fresh (or less-than-fresh, really) off the red eye in from LA, Corinne & Krystyna are sad to be back, but happy to be alive after an action-packed trip that included, spills, thrills...and Steve Urkel (WTF!?!). This week, the now bronzed babes of Sorry About Last Night interview fellow comic and man-in-the-midst-of-a-6 1/2-year-relationship-that's-really-a-15-year-relationship, MIKE CANNON! While Corinne seems truly perplexed about what Krystyna and Mike both do to keep their respective current relationships in tact, C and K can agree on one thing: they wouldn't mind getting their pussies shot with Mike's Cannon (amIright?!?!). The three comics talk teen years, public BJs, therapy, fighting, mind games, anal, how important it is to see more than just one dick in your lifetime and homosexual tendencies in straight dudes. LISTEN, LEARN...LA...

    Where are the Men:

    in Spirituality

We have more Africain American men in prison today then that where in slavery in 1850. My guest this week is Pastor Barrett Coachman of the Agape House in Augusta GA. Since 2002, the United States has had the highest incarceration rate in the world. Although prison populations are increasing in some parts of the world, the natural rate of incarceration for countries comparable to the United States tends to stay around 100 prisoners per 100,000 population. The U.S. rate is... 500 prisoners per 100,000 residents, or about 1.6 million prisoners in 2010, according to the latest available data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS).1Men make up 90 percent of the prison and local jail population, and they have an imprisonment rate 14 times higher than the rate for women.2 And these men are overwhelmingly young: Incarceration rates are highest for those in their 20s and early 30s. Prisoners also tend to be less educated: The average state prisoner has a 10th grade education, and about 70 percent have not completed high school.3 Incarceration rates are significantly higher for blacks and Latinos than for whites. In 2010, black men were incarcerated at a rate of 3,074 per 100,000 residents; Latinos were incarcerated at 1,258 per 100,000, and white men were incarcerated at 459 per 100,000.4 Since 2007, however, the incarceration rate in the United States has tapered slightly and the 2010 prison population saw a decline—of 0.3 percent—for the first time since 1972, according to the BJS.

At age 30, I discovered aerobics at the time when I needed to regain my healthy physique. Ironically, I fell in love with exercising and working out.  After the first year of exercising I realized that exercise and health was my God-given passion. Nine years later I purchased a Texas Lady/Texan Gym, and changed the name to BJs Fitness & Aerobic Studio.

Solutions Online Think Tank-Elderly Abuse and the Problem with Aging

    in Politics

Why Is It Bad to Grow Old in Today’s World? From seeking employment to saving a marriage there appears to be a challenge with elderly people being able to celebrate aging. There appears to be a rise in age discrimination and a push to make being elderly an undesirable trait. At the same time there is a problem with abusing the elderly that is in need of being addressed. A recent grant announcement is seeking an organization to further explore this dilemma of elderly abuse. ***** The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is seeking proposals to examine the problem of elder
abuse, mistreatment, and neglect through the collection of data on cases of suspected elder
abuse referred to Adult Protective Services (APS) agencies and cases reported to local law
enforcement. The goals of this program are two-fold: 1) to examine the characteristics of cases
of suspected elder abuse referred to APS and/or reported to police, in order to understand
routes of reporting of elder abuse, as well as whether certain case characteristics impact case
outcomes; and 2) to ascertain the feasibility of an ongoing and expanded collection of
administrative data on cases of suspected elder abuse, mistreatment, and neglect. $300,000 GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT: http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/content/pub/pdf/elder10sol.pdf

These programs are designed to offer tangible solutions to the critical issues that are challenging the quality of life in various populations. We invite forward thinkers, entrepreneurs and solutions oriented talkers to engage in meaningful problem solving. These episodes may be forwarded to government officials (or other interested entities) to let them review solutions oriented discussions.
