Four years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In that one moment my entire life changed as I knew it. For years I had been diagnosed as having Major Depressive Disorder. I never once dreamt that I would end up with a bipolar disorder diagnosis. I swore up and down that I did not have bipolar disorder. It wasn't until I educated myself and learned as much as I could about this illness. With that information, I knew I was armed to fight it! I now have come to a place where not only do I accept my illness, but I'm reaching out to other parents who have bipolar disorder as well.

When you "dance with your mental health condition" you are taking the right steps to move towards emotional healing with acceptance at every turn. Bipolar Disorder is one of the top ten causes of medical disability and mortality in the World. Developing more effective and more rapidly acting treatments, especially for the depression phase which is the most debilitating, depends on a better understanding of the causes of bipolar disorders. This blog radio talk by two of Columbia University’s experts on bipolar disorder will describe the latest results from brain imaging studies and regulation of the body’s inflammatory defenses. It will explain how these findings can lead to new treatment approaches and diagnostic tools.

We will also be discussing tips for enlightening us to be able to understand what bipolar disorder is, and the best way to treat it. Natasha will also discuss Mindfulness, and how it has changed her life!
I will be discussing depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders on this episode. Any of these disorders can be caused by a chemical imbalance related to neurotransmitters in the brain. This disorders can also be caused by something that has occurred in one's life. Depression and anxiety seem very prevalent in today's society including bipolar depression. We live in a very fast paced society. We get stressed and anxious over the lack of money. We also get depressed when our personal relationships aren't working out. Times have changed a lot and I get many psychic questions regarding love relationships and career.
I think we need to discuss the symptoms that we are experiencing more and I feel that this show is going to be beneficial to just that. We need to get these feelings out and get to the root of the problem. Then we can start to recover. We can start the recovery process. Please join me this coming Sunday, October 18, 2015, at 4 pm PST, as I welcome to the show Natasha Tracy, an award-winning mental health writer and speaker as well as a consultant who lives with bipolar disorder. Natasha was the proud recipient of the Erasing the Stigma Leadership Award from Didi Hirsch in 2014 for her work in the mental health field. It is well understood by Natasha, and others with bipolar disorder, that while treatment for bipolar works, it doesn’t always offer total relief. Because of this, daily coping skills are key. We will be discussing how to handle the tough situations that come up in everyday life and how to incorporate positive habits into your life to make handling bipolar just a little bit easier.
