On this special Masters Preview edition of On The Tee my special co-host "The Voice of Golf" Peter Kessler and I talked with two of golf's greatest legends Gary Player and Billy Casper.
Gary Player and Billy Casper shared stories about their victories at Augusta National in 1961, 1974, 1978 and 1970 respectively. We looked back at their historic victories, heard details of their rounds, got their thoughts on the changes made to the course over the years, heard their feelings about the loss of Ike's Tree, how competitive the Big 3 are even to this day and who they think will contend this year.
Peter Kessler is not only the greatest voice and interviewer in golf history but also a golf historian. He took us through how Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts found the property, what Jones and Alister Mackenzie would think of how the course plays today and why he thinks Angel Cabrera will win a 3rd green jacket this year.
Golf legend and 3 time major winner Billy Casper and the voice of golf Peter Kessler join Chris Mascaro & Joe Lagennusa On The Tee.
Join Chris Mascaro as he talks with golf Hall of Famer and 3 time major winning Billy Casper and the voice of golf Peter Kessler. The Silver State 508 began yesterday morning and looks to have some blazing fast times with pre-race favorite Marko Balo leading the way. In pursuit are Sean Cuddihy, Adam Bickett and David Haase. Last year's winner of the Trona 356 Billy Edwards joins us to give some insight into the competition.
"Billy" Eduard Albert Meier's spiritual experiences can be traced all the way back to a time when he was four years old. Billy was living in a town called Niederflachs/Bulach , Switzerland. Bulach is a municipality in Switzerland in the canton of Zurich, located in the district of the same name, and belongs to the Glatt Valley (German: Glattal). As a young boy at about 3am one morning, on a mild night in May, in the year 1941, he went outside and sat down on a bench and looked up at a beautiful starry night. Then he heard a voice in his head that said “My life is made out of the love of Creation." Also a short time later, words suddenly formed on Billy's lips, which said: “Since ancient times, you have lived among the stars”, and suddenly Billy knew who he was, and what his mission was on this earth. And, suddenly, impulses came from somewhere, which I later recognised as impulses from the storage banks, and many good memories penetrated me and showed me the way I had to go in my life. Thus I also suddenly knew what space and time signify concerning the evolution of human beings and all things... ( for more information see How it all began. ) The second part of that complete passage reads:
I recognised that the light, which the stars emitted, was a light in the visible spectrum, however, the light of true love remained invisible, creational and for all-great-time.
He officiated at matches that included wrestling’s royalty — Antonino Rocca ,Ultimate Warrior,Hulk Hogan,The Rock,Undertaker, among them. Caputo’s career highlights included between-games matches at major league ballparks, including Shea Stadium, and the first Wrestlemania at the Garden. Not so bad, you say — after all, the outcome of the bouts were never any secret. “Not so,” says Caputo. “Back then, they never told the refs the outcome so as not to compromise the job we had to do.”
