Host Adam Burke is joined by BangTheBook.com Expert Handicapper Kyle Hunter for their first official podcast of the 2014 season. In the first of a six-episode series to prepare college football fans and bettors for the season, Adam and Kyle will go in depth on the Big Ten conference, with discussion on all 14 teams in the conference, including conference newcomers Maryland and Rutger. They will talk about the depth charts, futures odds, win totals, and everything you need to be ready for the season.
Wide receiver Randall Cobb, along with former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Scott Tolzien, re-sign with the Green Bay Packers. Bryan Bulaga seems to be following the trail back to Titletown as well. Who else will come (back) to Green Bay, but who else will go? Also, which former Badgers will be with new teams? We'll discuss all the hoopla.
We also talk Big Ten Conference tournament. Will Bo Ryan's squad run wild on the B1G? We'll also discuss the Big Ten honors for Frank Kaminsky, Bo Ryan, Sam Dekker and Nigel Hayes. Can they get the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament?
At 8:40, we talk with Ring of Honor's Beer City Bruiser! We'll talk about his start in professional wrestling, his ascent to ROH, and facing Mark Briscoe Friday night in Milwaukee for Ring of Honor's "The Conquest Tour".
The BTPowerhouse staff and special guest Rece Davis from ESPN's College Gameday and Advisory Board Member of the Capitol One Cup discuss Selection Sunday and the Big Ten's chances.
We'll play post-game audio from the Wisconsin Badgers' victory over the Michigan State Spartans, which clinched at least a share of the Big Ten regular season championship. How far can Bo Ryan, Frank Kaminsky and Wisconsin go?
The Badgers officially hired John Settle as their running backs coach (again). We'll discuss the hire and what his return means to head coach Paul Chryst's offense and on the recruiting trail.
At 8:15, the Green Bay Press Gazette's Wes Hodkiewicz stops on to talk about the Green Bay Packers' offseason. No more A.J. Hawk, Brad Jones, and Brandon Bostick, but could there be no Randall Cobb as well after the Packers didn't place the franchise tag on him?
Plus, we'll talk Milwaukee Bucks and the breaking news of LeSean McCoy being traded to the Buffalo Bills -- could Melvin Gordon be heading to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Draft possibly?
BTPowerhouse takes a look at the race to this year's NCAA Tournament and its impact on the Big Ten and the Big Ten's new scheduling, which will reduce the number of rivalry games.
The Men in Red are back with Episode 2 of the podcast. Jon and Drew are talking Badgers hoops with Luke Mueller, B5Q's basketball beat reporter this year. The MIR ask Luke about Traevon Jackson's injury, Frank Kaminsky's POTY candidacy and to preview the upcoming games against Minnesota and Ohio State.
After that, there are some glowing quotes from Michigan State's Tom Izzo on Kaminsky and Bo Ryan; a discussion on new running backs coach John Settle and whether or not it is better to have an established position coach or a young hotshot recruiter.
All that, and Bo Ryan and Barry Alvarez moving in together after they retire, on this week's Men In Red Show.
In this episode of The Red Light Sports Ramble, presented by The Red Light Sports Network, Evan Witalison and Troy Otradovec will talk about the Wisconsin Badgers basketball team, as they prepare for March Madness. However, before Badger talk, a huge trade was executed today. Pending physicals, the Eagles traded All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy, to the Buffalo Bills. In return, they will receive Kiko Alonso, who missed the 2014, with a knee injury. What does this trade do for the up tempo offense, that Kelly runs?
The Wisonsin Badgers are off to a 26-3 record, and first place, in the Big Ten (14-2). The question was asked, in last nights episode, "Do you think the Badgers should put the gas on the peddle, and try to win the Big Ten Tournament, no questions asked, or should they rest some starters as they prepare, for the grueling schedule, of the NCAA Tournament?". With a Gonzaga loss, this weekend, the Badgers could be on the bubble, for a number one seed. However, they would most likely have to win out. Even with a Big Ten Championship, that doesn't mean they will receive that number one seed. Unless the wheels fall off the bus, they are pretty much locked, into a number two seed. What are your thoughts? Listen in and call the show.
#173: Marla Looper, Head Coach, Iowa Softball, visits TCRS for the first time to discuss the home opener and B1G opener against Maryland. Games vs Maryland will be tonight at 4pm, Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 1pm. Sunday's game will air on BTN Plus. Coach Looper concluded her fourth season as the head coach for the University of Iowa softball program in 2014. Looper owns an 100-104-1 overall and 42-48 Big Ten Conference record since the 2011 season. Looper collected her 100th career victory in the 2014 season finale, when Erin Erickson delivered a walkoff, two-run home run to lift the Hawkeyes past Ohio State, 3-2. On the season, Iowa posted 16 wins -- nine in conference action and three over ranked opponents (16-30-1). Megan Blank earned her third-straight first team All-Big Ten honor and was a second team NFCA All-Midwest Region selection after leading the Hawkeyes in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, doubles, triples, RBIs and walks. Kayla Massey earned her second career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week nod on March 31 after recording two complete game wins over Wisconsin. Hawkeyes Twitter, Hawkeyes Facebook.
