Who knew Sesame Street's Big Bird would play a role in Wednesday's presidential debate in Denver? About 30 minutes into the verbal contest between President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney, the former governor explained that he would cut what he considers non-essential items in the budget, including cuts to PBS, which employs debate moderator Jim Lehrer."I'm sorry Jim. I'm gonna stop the subsidy to PBS. I'm gonna stop other things," Romney said. "I like PBS, I like Big Bird, I actually like you too." This has set off great debate on social media site such as Facebook and twitter. But what does this really mean is it an overall cut to Education and Educational Programs? The comment provoked a strong, emotional reaction among some parents and teachers. Join me and lets talks should America say bye to big bird??
"The larger point... is, aside from our love for Big Bird and Elmo, as is evidenced by the last few days, the point that we’re making here is that when Mitt Romney… was given the opportunity to lay out how he would address the deficit, when he said 'I will take a serious approach to it,' his first offering was to cut funding for Big Bird,We’re reviewing it. I will say it doesn’t change the fact that there’s only one candidate in this race who is going to continue to fight for Big Bird and Elmo, and he is riding on this plane" — a reference to President Obama. Thanksgiving can be difficult time, like any other holiday but there is always, always, always something to be THANKFUL for. Some of us are thankful for the opportunity to start over and for making it out of a miserable situation. For others, you may feel lke you've lost everything and there's not much to be thankful for. I challenge that way of thinking, because all of us have so many things to be thankful for, while for others some of us need to put the THANKS back into Thanksgiving.
So this holiday season I challenge you to answer one question WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR? So this Saturday November 22, 2014 @ 7:30pm EST, call in and give us your comments and thoughts at (646) 929-0243. Join our chat room as well. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

One Family’s AIDS is the story of Gene Alexander McCoy - a young, educated African-American man who finds himself in a race for time to make peace with his family and God upon being diagnosed with HIV. The story, told from four different perspectives, chronicles Gene's life as he confronts such issues as HIV/AIDS, family, abandonment and homophobia. With the help of his over-bearing mother, a nurturing grandmother, and an uncle who doesn't feel comfortable talking about Gene's sexuality or disease, we learn the complexities of love and relationships, the damaging results of fear and shame, and how the relentless quest for the truth ultimately leads us back to each other.
