On this week’s podcast, Azi Paybarah from CapitalNewYork.com was unable to join the show because of breaking news. Paybarah, who has covered politics for The New York Observer, WNYC-AM, The New York Sun and the New York Press, will be on a future show to give another journalist’s point of view on the peninsula’s issues – the ferry, Sandy, being ignored — and how our elected officials are viewed, city and statewide.
Instead, host Mark Healey gave his overview of this week's issue and Thursday's ferry and shelter news...

This week, former NYC Councilman and U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner will join the show to discuss the latest issues facing Rockaway. Weiner, who now concentrates on being a dad and pursuing media and consulting opportunities is still very much talked about on the peninsula, and many wish he, not Bill de Blasio, were the mayor of NYC.

“It’s all about making music that people can listen to in their everyday life, from riding through the hood on a sunny day, top back, windows down banging beats or getting ready for worship on Sunday morning. We must meet people where they are with that same message.” says De’Leon.
ALL THINGS ARE READY NOW.... after many years of serving in the background for many in different genres such as Ricky Dillard, Dewayne Woods, Vashawn Mitchell, Shirley Caesar, Byron Cage, Dorothy Norwood, Velmer Watkins to hip hop artist like Dungeon Family and pop icon Celine Dion...It’s time for De’leon to step forward and bless the world with what has been dubbed “Life Music”.
De’Leon is currently working on his Debut project aptly entitled ***BALANCE*** (Release date Fall 2015) with a single scheduled for release Summer 2014 with production credits from Will Pierre, Travis Malloy, and others.
Born in Memphis, TN, and raised in Atlanta, GA De’leon is the son of a Preacher Woman and public school educator who instilled faith and education as a priority over everything else. When he was 10yrs old, Ricky Dillard, Hez Walker, and O’Landa Draper came to his church and De’Leon was sold, he knew immediately he wanted to sing in the choir. At an early age De’Leon was singing in the youth choir at his church but quickly was elevated to sing in the adult choir. Not only was he the youngest person to sing in the 100-voice choir but by age 13, he was directing and teaching.
After the comically sloppy 43-23 beatdown of the New York Jets, the Buffalo Bills moved to 5-3 as they now approach their bye week. Riding the back of a defense that forced 6 turnovers, the Bills also got 4 passing TDs from QB Kyle Orton in the blowout win. Sammy Watkins made a fool of himself early in the contest, but finished with 3 catches for 157 yards and a TD as well.

With each team winning two games, we're down to a best-of-three championship series. Game 5 is pivotal for both teams; however, it's the final stand at home for the Giants. Rest assured, they'll be aiming to continue riding their Game 4 momentum. The Royals, on the other hand, need to bounce back in a big way to quickly stop the bleeding. Both of these clubs have now gone through their entire pitching rotations. Starters Madison Bumgarner and James Shields will take the mound for the second time in this series, and they'll have their work cut out for them against lineups that combined for 28 hits Saturday evening. the Bleacherreport
The takeaway here isn’t how things can go so wrong as much as it is the Royals’ remarkable ability to keep things so right over the last month.
“Most nights we do a pretty good job doing it,” Yost says. “It just didn’t work tonight.”The Royals are two wins from a world championship because they’ve kept the trains running on time. Losing game four is more of a reminder of the infrastructure they need in place to celebrate. Sam Mellinge Kansas Star
With apologies to the stats crowd, an all-wild-card World Series has to have an element of pluck. Who outgrinds whom? Were it completely about talent, these two teams would have won their divisions, no?With their bid for another championship slipping from their grasp in Game 4 Saturday night, the Giants channelled whatever fortitude they could muster and tied the World Series at two wins apiece when they rallied from three runs down and steamrolled the Royals 11-4. Robin Farina : Robin began her cycling career over 13 years ago after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Sports Management. She has raced on several professional teams throughout her career and is the former 2011 National Road Race Champion and a 2012 Olympic long team member.
When not on the bike, her time is spent overseeing the newly formed Women’s Cycling Association (WCA) grow and become a global movement for women’s equality in sport and life. After several years of racing at the highest level, Robin saw the need to help Women’s Professional Cycling become a stable platform for future cyclists. The main goal is help achieve equity and help people see the health benefits through riding bikes. Robin’s main objective is to help grow cycling at the grassroots level. “The sport of cycling will gain more fans and more exposure which will in turn give more women the opportunity to race.” Her passion for sport and the sport of cycling drives her to stay dedicated and lead the charge for a positive change. Through the WCA, she dedicates her efforts to helping various philanthropic organizations such as World Bicycle Relief and the American Diabetes Association – Tour de Cure series.
