    in Radio

...Don't miss this LIVE Broadcast! - joining me tonight is this most wonderful individual who took her Battle with Drugs and Alcohol to another level - overcoming monumental odds, to become an Advocate for RECOVERY.  Bianca is WELL KNOWN and RESPECTED by All the High RIsk Youth/Young adults that she works with as well as City, (Chicago) County (Cook) and State of Illinois elected Officials.

After her family disowned her - she lived in the projects on the west side of Chicago where the violence was so bad that on a daily basis- bullets would ricochet past her head. She had 5 children whom she never raised and had not seen in over 16 years. She saw many young people killed from gun violence. She completely lost touch with reality and believed that things would never get better. In January of 2011, her father died while she was in prison. She never got to say goodbye to him and realized that she would die alone in the streets if she didn't change her life. When she was released from prison in August of 2011, she was paroled to a Chicago Recovery Home where she lived for almost a year learning Basic Skills to Stay Sober and become self-sufficient. Through the Grace of GOD & the rooms of A.A. she began to have hope. Bianca has been SOBER since May 8th, 2010.

Celebrating the Solstice & the Walk of a Medicine Woman~w/ Madeline Thompson ~*~

    in Spirituality

The Summer Solstice is a time to rejoice and renew!  The sun is at its highest point in the sky asking us to look up and within to brighten that light that shines in our hearts and in the depths of our soul…a time where sacred play and rest, abundance and tending, all come into to action and ask for our attention.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this potent creative energy and fire in the sky then with this week’s Transforming Gifts guest, Madeline Thompson.

Madeline is an expression of true beauty and deep truth in all forms.  She is a mother of 4 boys, Lifelong Yogi, founder of Growing With The Seasons (holistic community center), counselor, co-creator of the Real Beauty: Uncovered Movement, and, a Medicine Woman.  Although she speaks little to none about her walk as a Medicine Woman, it’s one that deserves praise and notice.

When Madeline speaks, ancient wisdom reverberates on each syllable.  In her presence, you feel her energy extend and embrace you like Grandmother Cedar (tree) who walks you through darkness with light and protection.  Her profound connection to Spirit and Mother Earth are felt in the silence of her soft gaze leaving you feeling cleansed and aligned without her even moving a finger.

With deep gratitude and honor, I invite you to join us for a blessed journey into this Medicine Woman’s light. Through story, song, and celebration of the Fire in the Sky you will receive a vibrational experience that will shift the way you see the world.  Remember, the lines will be open; you are always invited to call in @ 646-668-8087. We’d love to hear from you.

    Seeing you LIVE Thursday!
    love, peace, and harmony, siempre~

Beautiful Butterfly Welcomes Author of Forbidden Love Kendra Graves

    in Books

On This Episode of The Beautiful Butterfly Show We Welcome Special Guest Author of "Forbidden Love"  Kendra Graves. This is Kendra's first time on the show, so we are Excited to hear about this new author and the great works she has and will provide to the listeners and readers! Enjoy!

About Author Kendra Graves- Born and raised in Hartford Ct, I am 29 years young and a mother to my first born, my heart, my daughter Khaniyah. I always had a passion for writing. It all started at the age of 10 when I found myself alone in my bedroom and would write raps. From there I branched off and started writing poems but I found it didn't work for me. I gave it a rest for a few years and started back reading and writing at 15. My teachers always told me I was gifted. In school I would ace my writing exams. In highschool I read many books but it never occurred to me to write my own. I kept a journal of stories that happened to me, but never told my story. I graduated from highschool in 2004 and went on to cosmetology school because doing hair was my second passion. Shortly after entering into the field I had to leave school because I couldn't work with the chemical because my skin was to sensitive. I didn't know what else to do with myself so for a few years I tried to find something that worked for me. In 2010 I told myself I'm going back to school but It was all put on hold because I couldn't go as an independent student at 24. Once I turned 25 I enrolled in Kaplan university where I studied criminal justice. I made the dean's list every semester and presidents list my final semester. I graduated with my Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice in 2013 with a 3.91 gpa. Still trying to find myself in the field of my study is where I fumbled upon writing again in October 2014.
