Empire Sheds Light On Mental Illness Stigma

    in Current Events

Last night's episode against addressed the family need to talk about the mental illness of the grandmother (played by Kelly Rowland). By doing this the show has forced many in the Black community to look at the stigma associated with mental illness and how the community needs to get past it.

Join me as I talk about stigma around mental illness and somethings you can do to help void preconceived notions and old views of real illness.

    in Health

Healing is easy and Dr. Glidden tells you why.  Sherry's seen her 88 year-old mother-in-law heal easily, though Tracy is not healing and Dr. Glidden lets her know she's going to the wrong doctor.  He tells David to soak his feet and Paul to stop taking Plavix.  JD knows of someone who probably can't be helped, but everything should be done, just in case.  There's no rest for Dr. Glidden but he'll hold your attention on this show.

Power of Perception music with Caroline McLavy

    in Motivation

Coming from the dirty end of Rock ‘n’ Roll; owning band rehearsal rooms in Leicester for a number of years, Caroline McLavy emerged with an electro pop album quite possibly as bi polar to her day job as it can musically get! But as it goes ‘Electrostatic’ has plenty of hard-core grinding bass lines and provocative lyrics so maybe there’s more influence there than she cares to admit. The 11 tracks wander around relationship issues, social anxiety, dancing like your life depends on it, facing depression, general frustration with humanity and to finalise an end track about battling with bailiffs. What’s surprising is that with a gentle vocal, catchy pop melodies and uplifting synths, you hardly even notice. Caroline McLavy wants to tell you her story with her album. ‘Electrostatic’ just wants to be put on repeat.
