Yes another black life has been lost at the hands of a white police officer in Berkeley Missouri. There is a difference in circumstances between the two cases that seemly are only miles apart. In Ferguson Michael Brown lost his life as a result of shoplifting and assault case which eventually lead to his death by Officer Darren Wilson. In contrast the suspect, who has not been named approached a Berkeley police officer with a weapon in his hand pointing it at the officer, who has not been named yet. the officer backed away and fired several times killing the armed suspect. Crime does not pay if you're armed or not. But the overall outrage in terms of what's happening in this country as a whole still lingers. What makes Berkeley different is that there is store video that backs up the justifiable use of force, where in Ferguson, there was no video of the incident.

Ted Chabasinski is an attorney and human rights activist in Berkeley, California. In 1944, as a 6-year-old boy so intellectually gifted he jumped from first grade to third he was taken from his home in the Bronx to New York’s Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced “schizophrenic”, because his mother had been labelled “schizophrenic”. There he began a series of 20 electro-convulsive shock treatments. The boy, Ted Chabasinski, was one of hundreds of children used in ECT experiments. Tests since condemned as barbaric. He remained an inmate in a state psychiatric hospital until the age of seventeen. Chabasinski survived and became active in the civil rights movement and ultimately an attorney.
Ted has organized an International Day of Protest Against Shock Treatment, being held on May 16, 2015. There will be demonstrations in many countries and cities around the world.

There has been a lot of chatter lately about the decline of America. The fingers point to our economic problems, our international profile, our racial divide, and, of course, to America’s boisterous and spoiled children. The fact is, that on this planet, as bad as it gets here in America, we still set the standard for a functional free society, a legacy that we want to pass on to our kids. But how do we, in this world of “everything now”, rear the children that will carry on the exception that is the American culture. How do we make our kids winners in complex world of turmoil and technology? Donna Carol Voss, is now a stay-at-home mom. But, to quote her honest reflection: “I am a woman with a past.” That is not only the opening line of her memoir “One Of Everything” but also the centerpiece of her hang-on-hands-on life experience that makes her a very capable mom…. and an articulate writer.
Donna Voss’s life experience is eclectic. She is a Berkeley grad, a stay-at-home mom, a former pagan, and a devout Mormon. She is a fifty-something homemaker who has written a memoir, One of Everything, that is sure to provoke everyone about something is due for release in May, 2015 and is available for presales on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com
