" The Southern Wave of Claudette King " dedicated to legendary " B.B. King "

    in Music

Join Apostle Natalie Young hosting   " Claudette King"  the youngest daughter of all time legendary Bluesman, B. B. King. Yes, there’s a new voice making waves, belting out melodies of Blues, Soul, and R&B. Claudette was quick to cite her father as her main “inspiration.” But most certainly, the power of Claudette’s enthusiasm for the splendid genre-blending music on her debut “On To Something” merits wide notice. Trained in the gospel of the Baptist church from age 13, King is developing some of the emotional authority that one associates with her mighty mentors: Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Koko Taylor, Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, Mahalia Jackson, even Michael Jackson. The affable singer will tell you: “I got a bit of everybody inside of me.”

    Hollywood Actor Isaiah Washington Speaks

    in Radio

Check out tomorrow's interview with Isaiah Washington hosted by Ms. Lawrence the founder of Exposure Magazine and Celebrity Publicist

    By Isaiah Washington
    SHARETWEET
Actor and activist Isaiah Washington writes about the Baltimore uprising, his film ‘Blackbird,’ and the issues he finds most troubling with society’s stance on race.
The world associates the word black with bad.

The synonym for white is “good,” while the synonym for black is “bad.”

That is why I say I’m done being black. I’m African American. I have a proud heritage and proud ancestry—not unlike Chinese, Irish, El Salvadorian, English—and that’s not getting promoted. It hurts.

At first look, you may not see the connection between the three pieces of content I want to share with you below: an interview about the Baltimore uprising and Black Lives Matter, the marketing campaign behind my pro-LGBT film Blackbird, and a masterfully crafted op-ed by a black lesbian by the name of Danielle Moodie-Mills.

Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Search

    in News

The Montgomery County Board of Education has begun interviewing candidates to be the next superintendent for Montgomery County Public Schools. The eight-member board chose not to renew Joshua Starr's contact, Montgomery County's recently-departed superintendent who left Montgomery County earlier this year in February.

The school system hired the firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to conduct a nationwide search. So far, the search process has been tightly sealed from the public and board members have not spoken about any of the finalists.

During this episode, Ryan Miner will cohost A Miner Detail with former Montgomery County Board of Education candidate Laurie Halverson. Laurie and Ryan will detail the superintendent search process and what parents, teachers, and taxpayers should expect from the search committee.

Join Ryan and Laurie at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 for a new episode of A Miner Detail!

Nabwic Talks with: FIU Student Aretha Fung-A-Wing

    in Women

My name is Aretha Fung-A-Wing, I was born in Paramaribo, Suriname but raised in South Florida. I have an Associates degree in Business Administration from Broward College. I am currently a junior at Florida International University and I am pursing a Bachelors in Construction Management. I am very much interested in project development and the inner workings of planning the construction of any structure, I'd like to be apart of the business aspect of the industry. My dream is to build an NFL stadium and to become the first African American woman to own a professional football team and stadium in the National Football League. I am a firm believer in "speaking it into existence," as my faith in God is my guiding force and in everything I do. I would love to be apart of the greater good and give back to my community by creating jobs, educating our youth, and so much more. Success isn't contained to financial wealth, it's not when an individual has accomplished his/her goals, but it's when you've broken barriers and with a pure heart have helped others succeed. Being successful is not being selfish.
