We plan to open up the Debate and discussion of what is the best direction for the medical cannabis and or cannabis reform community regarding Cannabis. What impact will rescheduling have, which schedule is preferred for cannabis. Or should the plant simply be de-scheduled and treated like a potato.

Doug McVay, Researcher and Policy Analyst. Doug McVay is also an activist, writer, researcher, and speaker with a long history in drug policy reform. Doug worked for the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) as their Activists/Projects Coordinator from 1987 to 1990. In 1989, he co-founded and began working with the Cannabis Action Network (CAN). He is also A court-qualified expert witness on the subjects of marijuana use, sales and cultivation, Doug has testified in both State and Federal courts in the U.S.

Ellen Seeling is a trumpeter, bandleader, educator, and recording artist with 35 albums, three multi-platinum with Chic and Sister Sledge. The first woman to earn a degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana U, the Milwaukee native moved to New York in 1975, where she performed and recorded with Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Machito Orchestra, Slide Hampton Big Band, Luther Vandross, Laura Nyro, Ray Barretto, Paquito d’rivera, The Temptations, Larry Harlow and Latin Fever, Joe Cocker, Cornell Dupree, Isis, Ben E. King, Martha Reeves, and Larry Elgart. In 1980, Seeling and saxophonist Jean Fineberg formed DEUCE, recording original compositions on Deuce (1986) and Windjammer (1996). In 1989, they relocated to the San Francisco, performed with DEUCE, Bo Diddley, Patti LaBelle, DIVA, Phoebe Snow, Maiden Voyage, and local artists. In 1998, Ellen founded Montclair Women’s Big Band to provide visibility for Bay Area women jazz. They released a CD in 2005. MWBB performed at Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Grammy Foundation in Los Angeles, Opening Celebrations of SFJAZZ's Miner Auditorium, San Jose Jazz Festival, KCSM-FM Listener’s Concerts, Yoshi’s San Francisco and Oakland, and Human Rights Campaign and Hillary Clinton. Seeling teaches jazz trumpet and ensembles at UC Berkeley and Jazzschool. She taught at Indiana U, Pennsylvania State U, International Women's Brass Conference, JazzCamp West and Kansas City Women’s Jazz Festival. In 2009, Ellen founded and summer jazz camp for girls, Girls’ Jazz & Blues Camp at Jazzschool, featuring women’s faculty from MWBB.
