First, I would like to share my story with you. I became a model while still in high school. Over the course of my career, I was one of the “Most Unforgettable Women of the World” for Revlon and graced the covers of “Vogue and Elle Magazines” and numerous more. Yes, I know it sounds like a fairytale and yes; I had a passport full of stamps and was living the jet-set life. I knew something was missing in my life. I had to make a change.
I was getting paid tons of money for how I looked while secretly hating myself. While smiling and posing for the camera my thoughts often only contained recollections of perceived failures, shortcomings, or waistlines that were too snug. In retrospect, I realized that I was redirecting my inner conflicts of anger, sadness and shame onto my outward body.
Is beauty really only skin deep? Or does real beauty radiate from within? Today, Nick and Joanna will be discussing Skincare that is more than skin deep with a focus on Ayurveda and how the practices can help with skin issues and aging.
As the largest organ in (on) the body, the skin can be a really great indicator of what is going on inside the body. When there is acne, or other skin erruptions or symptoms, this is telling us something about our internal health. When we take medications that suppress the symptoms, the problem doesn't really go away, it's just driven inward where it can wreck havoc elswhere. Yet antibiotics are still prescribed to teenagers with ance, and toxic medications are given to women of child-bearing potential in an effort to treat something that is most likely casued by diet and/or lifestyle, and always with a mental/emotional component.
Nick and Joanna will be talking about how Ayurveda views skin care and how you can implement some simple and effective strategies that will have your skin looking and feeling great in a matter of days as well as detox from the toxins we are assautled with every day.

I am a woman of faith and Life Stylist with over 15 years of experience in helping mostly women of faith to find a style that reveals their true inner beauty. I always try to understand my client’s vision and bring her deep seeded dreams to the surface. I work one on one with women to help them deal with the inner issues holding them back and blocking the life they always wanted to have.
Before starting my own company, I helped many executive women find the right outfits and acquired the necessary skills to share my aesthetic vision with any woman- no matter the age, body type, style or industry.
The main purpose of my mission is to guide other godly women to find beautiful clothes without compromising their true selves. I strongly believe that fashion style is more than skin deep, which is why I have combined my styling and coaching services for women that are not afraid to share their faith through their clothes.
I would love to meet you virtually or in person in lovely Boston, where the shopping scene is fabulous and so fun! Let me help you create new and exciting outfit combinations!
Join Angela Lauria of The Author Incubator as she interviews Marna Currie on the publishing of her book, Healing Psoriasis from the Inside Out: An Energetic Perspective.
Author Marna says her book was a case of the topic picking her instead of the other way around. The writing did not really appeal to her but she felt she could help a lot of people get hope around psoriasis, a very stubborn and frustrating skin condition, by writing a book on its healing from an energetic perspective. From her own experiences and research, she managed to put everything she knew in her book, though she admitted the difficulty in getting all the pieces of information in one place.

Kelley Alsobrook was born and raised in Miami, Florida and has resided in Memphis, TN with her husband for the past fourteen years. Growing up in an abusive home was something that is known well to Mrs. Alsobrook. Being sexually, physically, and mentally abused in her youth she came to accept this kind of treatment from a man. This abuse continued into her adult hood as she became the victim of human trafficking and domestic violence. Being disconnected from her family and being a single mother she became a very easy target for a pimp that preyed on her vulnerability. She continued in this lifestyle for approx 4 years. The guilt, shame and self loathing of this lifestyle led her into drug use as her life spiraled downward. She felt there was no hope of ever escaping. Once she escaped this torturous lifestyle she was determined to help others get through these same experiences. She is now passionate about seeing those who have been beaten, broken, battered, and bruised become whole. This was the motivation for beginning Ashes2Beauty.
