Milling About with Patrick Wilson & Paul Wilson

    in Entertainment

Patrick Wilson and Paul Wilson join host Robin Milling to talk about their film Big Stone Gap. It was a labor of love for the Wilson brothers who's family roots are steeped in the small Virginian town. As children they recall spending summers with their grandparents who lived in Big Stone Gap. They tell Robin it was bittersweet to return to the place of their fondest childhood memories to shoot the movie, even staying in the house where they summered. Patrick says, 'It's really been the most personal project I've ever been a part of.' Paul tells Robin the story of how the Wilson family has been immortalized in the town with 'Wilson Road,' and the 'Paul J. Wilson' bridge named for their grandfather. In fact their grandparents were friends with the parents of writer/director Adrianna Trigiani who waited until Patrick was old enough to play the part, to make the film of her book.

Patrick and Paul's collaboration goes beyond movies, as they also have a band called The Wilson Van along with their brother Mark playing renditions of Van Halen songs.

Big Stone Gap also stars Ashley Judd, Whoopi Goldberg, Jane Krakowski, Jenna Elfman, and John Benjamin Hickey.

Historical mystery writer Kay Kendall is LIVE on Authors on the Air

    in Books

Kay Kendall is a long-time fan of historical novels and now writes atmospheric mysteries that capture the spirit and turbulence of the sixties. A reformed PR executive who won international awards for her projects, Kay lives in Texas with her Canadian husband, three house rabbits, and spaniel Wills. Terribly allergic to her bunnies, she loves them anyway! Her book titles show she's a Bob Dylan buff too. RAINY DAY WOMEN published on July 7--the second in her Austin Starr Mystery series.  She says, "In my mystery series featuring Austin Starr, amateur sleuth, I explore what life was like for a typical young woman--not a headline maker, not a Hanoi Jane or Angela Davis, but a moderate who nonetheless got swept up by history's tides during the turbulent sixties. All that turmoil lends itself to drama, intrigue, and murder."  For more visit http://kaykendallauthor.com.

Wisconsin probate court : We don't need no stinkin' evidence

    in Moms and Family

Hosted by Marti Oakley & Debbie Dahmer

6:15--BIG WEEK FOR GUARDIANSHIP.   KRIS HOOD reports from Texas on major changes happening in guardianship.  Kris will be kicking off our new information segment in the first hour of this show.

6:30...Latoya joins us from Georgia.  Latoya's mother has been the victim of guardianship abuse by a family member.  Drugged, neglected and living in horrendous conditions, she begged to return to Georgia to live with her daughters. Once in Georgia, the drugging was stopped to the extent that she began walking, talking and

In Wisconsin, the Homorable Judge Jane Carroll of Milwaulkee, decided she didn't need to see any evidence of abuse and that it would be appropriate to dismiss a restraining order against the abuser along with all other petitions in the case.  This even after testimony from the Wisconsin Department of Aging requesting that the guardianship be dismissed,  Community Care of Wisconsin also testified that they were aware of physical abuse and the brandishiing of a gun used to threaten LaToya's mother by the abuser.  Jusge Carroll decided none of this mattered and the abuser was never asked to testify or answer for his actions.

Latoya's mother was returned to the home of the abuser, and lives in constant fear and a state of anxiety.

Medical Sociologist, Jane Leserman, Discusses Abuse, Trauma, and Pelvic Pain

    in Health

Dr. Jane Leserman, who will be speaking at the International Pelvic Pain Society conference this October, is a medical sociologist and retired Professor from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  The focus of her research has been on how stress and traumatic life events (e.g., sexual and physical abuse) affect long-term physical and mental health.  Specifically, she has examined the effects of stress and trauma on patients with gastrointestinal disorders, pelvic pain and those with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).  Her research has shown that trauma and stress are associated with many diverse and severe health effects years after these events.  Stress has been related to faster progression to AIDS and increased risk for mortality among the HIV infected.  Patients being seen for chronic pelvic pain and gastrointestinal disorders have worse health status (more health visits, poorer function, more pain) if they have a history of trauma. Dr. Leserman’s research has been the inspiration behind her becoming a member of the board of her local agency to prevent domestic violence.  Dr. Leserman has authored and co-authored over 100 papers on topics concerning psychosomatic and behavioral medicine.

You will not want to miss this one-hour discussion on her research behind the role of physical and sexual abuse and trauma within the diagnoses of chronic pelvic pain disorders. This will be a sneak preview of her larger lecture at the International Pelvic Pain Society conference in October (www.pelvicpain.org).

    Cheating: The Ultimate Betrayal

    in Spirituality

Infidelity is one of the most heartbreaking of betrayals. It has a way of sneaking up on you and kicking the stool out from under you. It leaves you disoriented and scarred and you wander around wondering, “Why?”

Two emotions come into play when cheating occurs. The first is heartbreak. The second anger.  It not only changes how you feel and view the other person but also yourself.  And, we always blame. We blame him/her. We blame the person they cheated with. Or, we blame ourselves. "I'm not good enough...He's a dog...She's a backstabber".  The list is endless.

At KEEN.com, we have not only heard every scenario known to man, but have walked thousands through this dark hallway and led them out of the fog. We can tell you what is real and what isn't and also give sage advice on how to proceed. Not all relationships end after infidelity, but they do change and isn't it better to be informed rather than fumble your way through the healing?

Thursday, October 1st from 7:00PM – 8:30PM PDT, KEEN Radio hosts, MsLisaM and Laura Brown, along with this weeks featured advisor from KEEN, Jane Wilcox, will be discussing why men and women step outside of the relationship, the pain and change that takes place afterward, and how to heal the self and/or the relationship so you can get to a better place.

Feel free to call in with your infidelity questions (657) 383-1952, or email us at radio@keen.com, or even tweet us @KeenPsychics. All questions will be reviewed and passed along to our hosts who will answer them for you live on air.

Why suffer or prolong the pain any longer? KEEN has the answers you seek.

Talk with Tenney: Special Electroshock: Cognitive Impairments and Rehabilitation

    in Current Events

Call in (267)521-0167 9-11 PM Eastern 9/30/2015 to be part of the special series on electroshock is a crime against humanity continues.

Loretta Wilson, Jane Rice, and other shock survivors will discuss cognitive impairment and rehabilitation after shock.

    From Loretta Wilson:

In the year 2000 I was informed by the psychiatrist/professor of Michigan State University Dale D`Mello that I would need maintenance ECT and psych meds for the remainder of my life.

The last electroshock was administered by D. D`Mello in/around September of 2000.

In 2007 I began to taper off the drugs as well.  I began to lose weight (good thing because I tipped the scales at 261 lbs) and started getting healthier.  By 2009 I no longer needed my cane or handicap parking permit.

One drug kept me working for 8 long years.  Klonopin had so affected me it took 8 years to finally be set free.  My goal to become "drug free" has become a reality this year.  I have been drug free for quite some time now.  My physical health also improved to the point I am no longer taking medications for anything except a small dose of thyroid hormone.
