Evidence continues to trickle in. There's no economic recovery, just a cruel Ponzi scheme being deployed to hide American's decline.
In other news, President Obama's trying hard to regain the presidential imagry after bungling it badly in the first hours after the Malaysian airliner was shot down last week. Meanwhile, foreign presidents are being flown to the White House to help counter damage to the president's poll numbers caused by the immigration crisis he invited.
Speaking of immigration, Texas has put troops on the border because the feds wouldn't. Critics say it amounts to a militarization of the border. Seems to us militarization is a proven tactic to counter an invasion.
We'll dig into these topics, and a lot more, on this week's Don and Doug.
Program starts at 1:00 pm Eastern Friday afternoon. As alway, your input is invited and appreciated.
As many New Yorkers struggle to make ends meet and state and city budget deficits skyrocket, our rookie governor has a new, astonishing trick for his recovery plan - tax cuts for the wealthy.
That's right, Gov. Cuomo, the Democrat, wants to join all those Republicans in Albany and slash an income tax surcharge for every New Yorker making more than $200,000 a year - a mere 5% of the population.
We're not talking about a gross income of $200,000. This cut would be on taxable income above $200,000 - after the filer has taken advantage of every deduction and loophole IRS regulations allow.
The Legislature approved the surcharge, or so-called millionaire's tax, two years ago. It did so following the near economic collapse brought on by Wall Street greed. The temporary surcharge was meant to help the state weather the recession and is set to expire in December.
Since the tax was enacted, big banks, corporations and their investors have recovered and are flush with record profits.
Too many New Yorkers, on the other hand, still face unemployment, a persistent mortgage crisis, depressed property values, zooming health care costs and frozen wages.
As a result, state government is staring at a $10 billion shortfall for the budget year that begins April 1. Closing that gap will mean major cuts to education, Medicaid and other services.
Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.
Author Seraphina Nova joins me on the Indie Books Show this week to tell us about her book: Another Stone to Carry.
In the small Midwestern town of Bear River, soft-spoken, shy, Kassandra Hayes lives a very sheltered life governed by the church and her goal to become a missionary. Things drastically change when she is sexually assaulted and her life begins spinning out of control. To numb the pain she runs away and finds herself homeless in Chicago. For years, she embraces a life of exotic dancing, drugs, and sexual bartering until an unexpected encounter with an old friend lands her back home where she is brought back to the fold. Her congregation embraces their prodigal daughter, and she acts and dresses the part, but her story is just beginning. Torn between desire and conventional morality, she goes on another journey of self-discovery and finds love in the most unexpected place, shocking the town and herself.
Tune in live Friday at 11AM EST and call in or chat to join the discussion or listen to the archive.

Mission: To bring awareness to our nation's households and communities concerning sexual abuse against children. To open up the ears of adults that they may hear the cry of our children.
We are dedicated to the education, prevention and support of children and their families who have been victimized by sexual assault against a child. Sexual assault against children is not a new discovery in our society. The ealiest reported case dates back to 1642 in Massachusetts. It is a subject that has been hidden behind the closed doors of our homes, churches, schools, etc. In this 21st century one would think that this topic would get at least as much exposure as Gay Rights, Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence, yet there is little said about the abuse against our nation's children. they have to say and pay attention to the signs that things may be occuring right under their nose. It is our responsibility to protect our children. We can educate our children on how to protect themselves against strangers, but how do we educate them against people they trust, especially those who claim to love them?
Fact:1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused by their eighteenth birthday. Only 1 in 10 will tell. A recent study of 116 confirmed cases of abuse where a child disclosed, showed that 74% of the time it was an accidental disclosure. This means that the abuse was discovered not by the child coming forth with the information, but by third parties observing unusual behaviors or symptoms. This information is based on reported cases. The number of unreported cases is unknown. (Dallas Children's Advocacy Center)
Let's join forces and help prevent these assaults against our children. Let us embrass those children and adults that are healing from the abuse that they have already encountered.

She never felt like she belonged. Gawky, pale and thin she never felt like she could compete with the “popular” girls. By the end of high school she was a tall, shapely blonde with big blue eyes…the boys couldn’t get enough but underneath she still felt small, unlikeable and unloved. Her quest for love started a long string of lies to herself which began to require more and more alcohol to assuage. By the end of college the alcohol and drugs had overtaken the insecurity as problem number one. Join us this week to hear Hilary’s story.
Patterned after the typical format of an open meeting in a 12-step group, the show will be a speaker meeting. Guests will be from AA, NA or AlAnon and will share their perspective on what they were like, what happened and what they are like now.
