    Lois Podoshen:Trying on Bathing Suits

    in Books

This collection by Lois Podoshen answers life’s burning questions: “If you can’t whistle ‘Dixie’ and your spouse flunked clarinet, are viola lessons for your child really a good investment? “How can a middle-aged woman with a hatred of sweat and exercise get in touch with her inner Schwarzenegger?” “Is it possible for a woman to pee in a hole in the ground in France and still maintain her dignity?”
Trying on Bathing Suits & Other Horror Stories reflects on problems that happen to all of us. Did anything in the book make you say, “Yes, that happened to me”? Podoshen hates trying on bathing suits but loves to laugh, especially at herself.
One reviewer said: "What we all should do is make sure... to beg her for more, read her next book, and get her on Oprah." Another praised her talents and considered it the "funniest writing since Art Buchwald and Erma Bombeck.
Podoshen also wrote four children’s books published by Richard C. Owen Publishers, Inc.: The Birthday Bird, The Artist, Paco’s Garden and Grandpa’s Candy Store
Author’s Beat, sponsored by The Writers League of the Villages in central Florida, is hosted by award-winning author Mark Newhouse and created by Don Canaan and Mark Newhouse. Also listen to “The Chosen Radio” every 1st and 3rd Sunday morning at 10:30. Award-winning journalist Don Canaan brings you dramatizations of many of the radio programs that you grew up.

Tithing: Malachi and the Lord's List of Charges Against Israel

    in Christianity

    Malachi Chapter 1

    1-5 Great ingratitude and arrogance.

6 Insolence, rebellion, contempt, neglect and hypocrisy of the priesthood.

7 Contempt, greed, disobedience to Law, creating law unto themselves; deeds reveal their hearts.

8 Offered unacceptable sacrifices; lowered God's standards; they think it's okay to serve God part-way, and make up other rules as it suits them.

9 Priests are deceptive, to people and to God, which causes evil to come upon the peopl, since they are covetous and wicked.

10 The Levites didn't do their jobs; thought God either wouldn't see or wouldn't care; God rejects them and their offering.

11 Because of the rebellion of both the people and the priests, God rejects His favored nation and promises to make His name great among the Gentiles, who will offer a pure offering. He foreshadows an end to all these legal ceremonies by Christ's sacrifice alone.

12 Neglect by both priests and people, disobedience, impiety, contempt of God and covetousness.

13 Laziness, pride in service, lukewarmness, greedy, keeping the best for themselves.

14 Lying, breaking of vows, lack of fear of the Lord.

    Chapter 2

    1 Rebukes the priests.

2 God threatens to continue and increase the curse if they continue to refuse to hear, take to heart, and give glory to Him.

3 God promises lack, regardless of their actions, and promises filth and shame as consequences of their disobedient feasts.

4 God upholds the rightness of His covenant while rejecting those that abuse it.

5 God reminds them of His promise of life and peace to Levi.

6 Compares the current priesthood to righteous Levi, who spoke the truth, had it in his heart and taught it to others.

7 Priests reproved for not being righteous representatives of the Lord.

8-17 Priests are stumbling blocks and have corrupted the Law.

The View Up Here commits to Know Thine Enemy, Canada, Know Thine Enemy

    in Politics

October 19, 2015. It is approaching fast as the usual bluster emanates from Ottawa. The pillar of status quo and conformity, the corporate media, continues to sensationalize and distract from the things that truly matter regarding the future and stability of Canada. An exhausted Elizabeth May tries to be someone she is not, utters the F-bomb twice in nine minutes, and this is suddenly the moral dilemma of the nation. Not election fraud. Not insiders awaitng trial, on trial, or under criminal investigation. Not $3.1 billion that went "unaccounted for". Not policy that benefits the top 20% or less of the population. Not the walls of secrecy or threats of retribution for speaking the truth. Not the obscenity that is omnibus legislation that changes acts of Parliament without relevance, debate or scrutiny.

Canada is blessed with many intrepid investigators and reporters that seek the truth. But once they find that truth, the real hard part begins. Beancounters and message controllers masquerading as editors and producers have an agenda that differs from those that seek to inform and expose. Corporations keep the advertising revenues flowing as long as the message suits their aims. The false rallying cry from the establishment of the "Leftist Media" continues as the government of Emperor carries on with seeming impunity. Canadians need to awaken to see a different F-bomb in their midst. Government and corporations. It is Fascism.

There are lessons to be learned from the Alberta election. The opposition parties keyed on their common enemy, not each other. The lies and incompetence were exposed. The voters were left to choose their replacement freely. It is time the federal parties did the same for the benefit of Canadians. It's not like there is no evidence to condemn Emperor and the Corporate Pacification Committee. Let's attack the enemy, not each other. For Canada.

Justice Clarke @ 4th & Baker Presents: WB - Interview with Lillianne Ama Crane

    in Poetry

    Bio (Lillianne Ama Crane):

My name is Lillianne Ama Crane. I was born in Memphis Tennessee, raised in the mountains of NC during a time when drugs and prostitution were considered normal & suits and ties were something I only saw on one of the 2 television channels we could view via our 18 inch, copper antenna equipped T.V. In other words, I grew up in the streets and poor! I would be lying if I said my childhood were bad because it wasn't. I was the only child being sheltered by hippies, drunks, hustlers, pimps, whores... And they all had their different charms.  Even though I spent the majority of my youth wandering in the forest and communing with imaginary friends or "ghosts..." I was never lonely. I took the memories with me into adulthood.  I am a poet and an author. I published my first book, "Sweet Dreams of Josephine," in 2011. It was about a lady who turns herself into a madame and runs away from her tyrannical international drug dealer husband, following in the footsteps of her idol- Cocaine queen, Griselda Blanco. This was the first in the series and the second book, "Curse of the Blood Diamond", will come out soon. I live my life based on the principal that I don't have to be a product of my environment. Aside from writing, I am a quality engineer for an automotive corporation and a small business owner for a janitorial franchise. My passion is words... I love the written arts. Words can build things up, as well as tear them down. They can enchantment,  charm, & even enslave. My goal is to master the written arts. With a little love and willpower, I have faith that somewhere, somebody will fall in love with the words I choose to convey a message or tell a story- and that maybe, I can help someone see past the harsh reality of life and into world that we can create for ourselves.
