Ruth Otero on Win's Women of Wisdom

    in Motivation

On Win's Women of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles welcomes Ruth Otero. She love adventure, international travel, food, stories, and laughing with strangers. Ruth started writing a blog where she get to mix them all together and hopeuth fully inspire you to cook up your own adventures – in your kitchen and your life! Cookin’ Up Adventures was born after her first three week trip to Thailand many years ago.  Until that point the only Thai dish she had eaten was Pad Thai. Ruth was not the most adventurous eater, so she resigned herself to eating Pad Thai for lunch & dinner every day for 3 weeks. In Chiang Mai she signed up for a cooking class and learned about some of the ingredients that make up most of Thai cooking: lemongrass, Kaffir lime, fish sauce, chili, plus some  familiar ingredients like basil, ginger, shallot, and garlic. Then her cooking teacher told Ruth at a restaurant she can always request to have chili or any ingredient, Ruth didn’t like removed from her dish. Ruth let out a sigh of relief knowing the next two and half weeks were going to be a gastronomic breeze! To learn more about Ruth vist http://www.cookinupadventures.com. Re-Modeling the Mind: Personality in Balance - Author RUTH JOHNSTON

    in Entertainment

Who doesn't love a personality theory? Unfortunately, to many readers, personality systems seem like checklists, confining boxes, or games and gimmicks. We know we're all unique and in some ways we never stop changing; at the same time, we humans do fall into groups that are somewhat predictable. A useful personality theory needs to define, explain, predict and still leave room for flexibility and uniqueness.

Building on Jungian philosophy and deep personal observation, Ruth Johnston presents a living model of human personality. In this interview, we'll be talking about one of the building-block ideas: inborn, instinctive knowledge. Parts of our personalities are flexible and learn easily, while other parts are idealistic, confident and a bit rigid. We're different because each personality has these parts arranged in its own way.

Ruth, an old high school friend of mine, will join me to talk about these personality ideas by using some classic movies as illustrations. Some Frank Capra, some Film Noir, a surprise pick she won't tell me about in advance. I've been reading her book and I'm looking forward to talking movies and personality!

Re-modeling the Mind is available at Amazon.  For additional info we didn't have time to finish in the interview, visit Ruth's blog at: http://re-modelingthemind.com/wp/2015/11/16/who-are-you-radio-interview/

Dr. Michelle Harris interview with Gospel Recording Artist Ruth La Ontra

    in Christianity

Join Dr. Michelle Harris with Gospel Recording Artist Ruth La'Ontra

One of the brightest voices on today’s gospel scene belongs to newcomer Ruth La’Ontra. The 23-year old vocal powerhouse is among a cool clique of young female singers such as Tasha Cobbs, Jekaylyn Carr and Alexis Speight who are collectively flexing their girl power and making room for themselves at gospel music’s male-dominated welcome table. Though young in age, La’Ontra is a seasoned veteran who’s experienced her share of heartache and pain but has sung through her tears to deliver a triumphant and inspirational debut CD, “So Good (Tyscot Records),” that was released to stores everywhere November 12, 2013.

La’Ontra’s life has been a rollercoaster of highs and more highs over the last year. She bankrolled her own three song EP, put it up on iTunes and watched the cyber buzz heat up around her soulful vocals and contemporary sound. Then, one of the songs from it, “I’m In Love With A Man,” a love song to God, was featured in the motion picture, “Iniquity.”Her producer Bubby Fann says, “Her voice demands attention. She’s full of energy and causes you to go wherever her voice leads you.”

    Naomi Widowed (Ruth 1:1-8)

    in Christianity

Now it came about in the days when the judges governed, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn in the land of Moab with his wife and his two sons. The name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife, Naomi; and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem in Judah. Now they entered the land of Moab and remained there. Then Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left with her two sons.

They took for themselves Moabite women as wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. And they lived there about ten years. Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died, and the woman was bereft of her two children and her husband. Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the land of Moab, for she had heard in the land of Moab that the Lord had visited His people in giving them food. So she departed from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah. And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each of you to her mother’s house. May the Lord deal kindly with you as you have dealt with the dead and with me.
