    Wanda's Picks Radio Show #BlackLivesMatter

    in Art

This is a black arts and culture site. We will be exploring the African Diaspora via the writing, performance, both musical and theatrical (film and stage), as well as the visual arts of Africans in the Diaspora and those influenced by these aesthetic forms of expression. I am interested in the political and social ramifications of art on society, specifically movements supported by these artists and their forebearers. It is my claim that the artists are the true revolutionaries, their work honest and filled with raw unedited passion. They are our true heroes. Ashay!

We rebroadcast our show from January 2, 2012. It is an update on US sanctions against Zimbabwe with cultural worker, entrepreneur, Ayotunde Akindele. This interview is followed with a conversation with archivist Bill Doggett whose historic art display at the Bayview Opera House January 2012-13 in honor of the 150 Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. We close with a live converation with Dr. Mark Lomax whose latest work #BlackLivesMatter will be released January 15. He joined us to talk about the genius of the work which like his esteemed Isis and Osirus is also in three movements: Amerikkka, Stop Singin and Start Swingin, Black, Beautiful and Powerful. Listen at http://marklomaxii.com/blacklivesmatter Other musicians and music: Gina Breedlove, Kim Nalley and Janis Joplin.

On George Jackson Radio we will discuss  what Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe says about  South Africa failing to lead the economic development of countries in the African Union (AU) because its economy is in the hands of the white minority.... is  that fact or fiction?

We will discuss the case of political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal - the  Revictimization Relief Act in Philadelphia,  The bill has been dubbed the “Mumia bill” after Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was convicted of first-degree murder in Faulkner’s killing and sentenced to death in 1982. Tom Corbett signing  into law a bill that bans former criminal offenders from provoking “mental anguish” in their victims — legislation that the American Civil Liberties Union’s and other critics  say “can’t pass constitutional muster.”

    in Politics Conservative

WHEN DO WE SAY NO !!!!!!!!!!!! WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!

“Tesh Ndlovu of Midrand: 27 October 2014: "My duty is to eliminate every white person in South Africa" facebook page: "If you look very well in my profile you'll see that I'm wearing a necklace.. you see this necklace. This was made from the bones of a small white child of six years old. I killed him myself and his sister in front of his parents. We can make beautiful art and traditional crafts using the bones an d remains of white people... If you want to eat a white person, I won't stop you. Or if you just want to have some fun torturing a white person before you killt hem, that is entirely your prerogative... whites doesn't have their own country. They are all over Africa... they've nowhere to run...”

    who can you trust?

“South African Police sergeant Hendrik 'Muthi" Mthimunye: "Never Trust the White Man, the only Time you Trust Him is when he is Dead'

5 November 2014: Twelve white colleagues have lodged a formal complaint against sergeant Mthimunye, saying these words are 'unsuitable language to be used a a police member."

Dr. Stanton noted that recent studies of the correlation between corruption and atrocities committed by governments show that the relationship is direct.  Once in power, corrupt governments cling to power because of the enormous wealth their officials amass.  They then persecute, torture, and murder anyone who challenges their grip on power.  That downward spiral has begun in South Africa, just as it did in Zimbabwe.  In Zimbabwe it resulted in the Gukurahunde genocide against Joshua Nkomo’s Matabele people and Mugabe’s repression of the MDC.

I am a 5th Generation white 62 year old, born & bred in Johannesburg and now living & working in Durban, I have to work just to survive. I am in the sales profession, but because of my age and colour of my skin, I earn a pittance, but fortunately I do earn commission.

If you're white and employed, you take whatever they throw at you, and you don't argue, you are only too happy to have a job.

I have 2 children living in London, 1 married and 1 single.

I am 61 year old and have 2 daughters. My eldest who is 39 years of age was attacked when she was about 18 (1993) her and her boyfriend were attacked outside a pub he was running in Benoni. Fortunately she was not hurt and he came off lightly. They were both traumatized. She is living in Kentucky and has been there for 4 years.

My youngest daughter lives in Cape Town and was raped by Black man.

I decided to leave SA in 1992 after a visit to my sister who had then moved to New Zealand. I saw the writing on the wall and knew it was a matter of time before we ended up in a Zimbabwe type debacle.

SWAG Radio Presents: Wali Akindele, Author of the 15th District

    in Books

On this episode of SWAG Radio Yara Kaleemah will be hosting an exclusive interview with Philly's own Wali Akindele, author of the 15th District and owner of Prolific Concepts.

Wali Akindele was born and raised in North Philadelphia’s Nicetown/Tioga section where he quickly learned dedication and perseverance. Fast forward to 2011 when he received a yellow envelope from the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, inside was an untitled, unfinished manuscript sent by his close friend and now label mate Andrew Jones, who shortly after received a life imprisonment sentence. Wali believed in this untitled work of art so much that he read the unfinished novel three times. Finally mustering up the nerve to put his pen to the paper he completed the manuscript and named it “15th District Chronicles of the 19124.” After receiving accolade for his first attempt at writing he penned two more features, a short story called “Tha Choice is Urs….Memoirs of The Block,” the first edition of “Tha Choice is Urs” series, and “Milligrams A Philadelphia Epidemic.” Out of his love for literature and his new found love for writing Wali Akindele, and his wife Ilene Akindele founded Prolific Concept Productions. Merging his old indoctrination of the hustle, and his entrepreneurial spirit Wali strives to make Prolific Concept Productions the publishing company of the future.

Book title: "15th District Chronicles of the 19124"

Author's names: Wali Akindele and Andrew Jones
