Hooray for Hollywood and hooray for the Oscars! This year’s 87th Academy Awards is the subject of The Halli Casser-Jayne Show, Wednesday, February 18, 3 pm ET. Joining Halli at her table are Betsy Sharkey, esteemed film-critic for The Los Angeles Times and director, writer, producer, actor and reconteur Charles Matthau.
Los Angeles Times film critic Betsy Sharkey is an award-winning entertainment journalist and bestselling author. She began her career as a feature writer for the Dallas Morning News and has since written for The New York Times, TV Guide and Esquire among others. She is a member of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
Director, writer, producer, actor and raconteur Charles Matthau was weaned on film. His father was actor Walter Matthau. He appeared as a child actor in such films as Charley Varrick, The Bad News Bears and House Calls before he turned to directing with The Grass Harp, from a novella by Truman Capote, and the made-for-TV movie The Marriage Fool. A graduate of the film school at the University of Southern California, Matthau also directed Doin' Time on Planet Earth, Her Minor Thing, Baby-O and Freaky Deaky starring Christian Slater.

Film historian James Colt Harrison and Classic Movie Guide founder Diana Saenger drop by to preview the upcoming 72nd Golden Globe Awards, which will take place on January 11 with funny ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as co-hosts again this year. James and Diana plan to focus on the awards for Best Picture as well as Best Actor and Best Actress in the drama and comedy/musical categories.
Films in contention include Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, Selma, Into the Woods, Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel, St. Vincent and Pride. Nominees in the acting categories are: Eddie Redmayne, Steve Carell, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Oyelowo, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Keaton, Bill Murray, Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, Joaquin Phoenix, Julianne Moore, Rosamund Pike, Reese Witherspoon, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Aniston, Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Helen Mirren and Quevenzshane Wallis.
James Colt Harrison has contributed film commentary to such outlets as the La Jolla Village News, Rage Monthly, No Cover Music Magazine and San Diego Metro Weekly. Diana Saenger not only heads up Classic Movie Guide, she's also entertainment editor for the San Diego East County Gazette and operates her own site called Review Express.
This week on the BIG show, the awards season has begun and we'll preview some of the best films, foreign-language and documentaries. Film critics Susan Wloszcyna (RogerEbert.com) and Ann Hornaday (The Washington Post) will join host Tim Gordon to discuss some of the contenders for awards consideration. Plus, we'll have entertainment news and review of the Christian Bale drama, Out of the Furnace all on Episode 231 of Keeping It Reel with FilmGordon.

Baylor enters this weekend (12-2). Baylor made the trip to OKC reaching the semis before falling to the eventual 2014 WCWS Champion Florida Gators. This season Baylor is led by Sr. INF.
