Join us for a conversation with Brenda Premo, Director of The Harris Family Center for Disability and Health Policy (CDHP), at Western University.
CDHP sponsors educational activities and curriculum development for health professionals serving people with disabilities. The Center also conducts applied research to develop continuing education programs for current health care providers. These activities are designed to improve patient care delivery through advocating basic changes in social and policy issues affecting the health of people with disabilities.
Brenda is a frequent lecturer on disability issues in the schools of Pharmacy, Allied Health and Osteopathic Medicine, as well as physician education programs in California. She also co-teaches a class on Disability Culture. She works directly with many managed care organizations’ consulting projects. Her awards and commendations are many. The California State Senate honored her as “Woman of the Year” in 1988 and in 1998 she received the National Rehabilitation Awareness Foundation’s “Special Achievement Award.”
We'll talk with Brenda about her work at CDHP, her personal and professional experiences, and the future of policies affecting the health of people with disabilities.

Leonard C. Porter attended the University of TN at Martin where he majored in Criminal Justice and joined the military. Mr. Porter became a police officer in Prince George, Virginia, performing the general routine assignments of arrests, traffic, patrolling and even notifying concerned relatives after a child or disoriented elder was found.
After leaving Virginia in 1993, Mr. Porter became a Tennessee State Trooper. He felt the drive and need to be a part of an organization like the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and an Investigator for the Shelby County Public Defender’s Office where his years of experience and expertise could be utilized.
Mr. Porter liked the idea of being an entrepreneur, operating nationwide security and investigations company that will serve the masses on whatever level in which there is a need. In 2007 he founded Porter Security and Investigations, Inc. His duties now are more challenging and varied, but overcoming the challenges puts him a step closer in reaching his goals. “I want to eventually run.
When it comes to career choices, he has few regrets. Having experiences in many security related positions and being in management for other security companies has enhanced his business experiences and is a catalyst for a new and improved security company of which he owns.

Let's pray like: Jesus, King David, Daniel, Prophetess Anna, Paul and Silas and you!
Luke 18:1 (KJV)
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Let us pray untill we have the answer!
When artists Beth Whitney and Bradford Loomis began writing together, they had no idea their casual co-writing experiment would blossom into the much anticipated album THE BANNER DAYS. That first night they wrote "My Beloved" in two hours. After a few more writing sessions, it waws clear to both that these songs merited a bold decision. From the first time they played together, along with Beth's husband/collaborator, Aaron Fishburn, the chemistry has been powerful. The combination of Beth's delicate, pure and melodious voice and Brandfords soulful, growling tone make for a beautifully heart wrenching harmonious blend. http://www.thebannerdays.com http://www.facebook.com/bannerdays

Rooftop Revolutionaries are a modern hard rock band from Los Angeles fronted by opera-trained rocker Eleanor Goldfield. They have stood out in the Southern California underground rock scene by expressing political and social views in their songs, blending a message with a heavy rock sound similar to that of Alice in Chains. Rooftop Revolutionaries have played Los Angeles venues such as The House of Blues Sunset Strip, The Roxy, Viper Room and the Troubador. They released their debut album this summer, Resolute, to rave reviews. Best of all Eleanor joins us Friday.
In an industry saturated with fly-by-night singles, auto-tune pop, and packaged artist-development, Alex Nester brings back the art of music-making in a collection of original music chronicling her trials and letdowns with the state of music business today and her bout with cancer as a teenager. A life of trial and triumph has shaped her unique sound filled with messages of love, faith, positivity, and healing while channeling the retro soul artists of the 60’s and 70’s. Her resume includes 12 albums, countless jingles, and over 25 theatrical productions, as well as working with established musicians such as Carlos Santana, Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, The Fifth Dimension, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. We are so looking forward to talking with Alex this Friday at 2:30 pm ET.
Ferguson is a city of 21,000 residents. This little city is 67% black 28% white, and others. On August 9, 2014 a young man, preparing to enter college on Monday August 12, never made it past August 9. This young man was killed by a police officer. The account given by the officer is that the young man was ordered to not walk in the street. It is said by the officer the young man refused to move to the sidewalk; words were exchanged, the young many reached into the patrol car to grap the officer and the office shot to protect himself. Based on the officers statement via police chief, the young man proceeded to run away, and the officer chased the boy and shot him several more times. The young man then lay dead, for 4 hours in the very street the officer attempted to prevent him from walking in. The reason for the now body of the young man to lay in the hot August street for 4 hours is known only to the police officers of the small town of 21,000 residents. The officer, Darren Wilson, has not been arrested, and no other person has been arrested. A person walking in the middle of a street is killed while running away from an officer, and the officer remains free, on paid leave. What does the death of a person mean to a city so small? To the majority of the people, the death is a tramatic experience and they want justice for the death of the young man. Mike Brown, who is not longer with us. To a few choice people the death of the young man, a black man, means peace has been disturbed in their small city and the few does not want the eyes of the world on their small city watching angry demonstrators.
I find something strange going on in Ferguson Missiouri. I will talk about some concerns in todays shows. Any listeners from Ferguson who know something about the voting there, please call in and let's talk about voting statistics in Ferguson Missiouri.
