Mindless Behavior stir up a frenzy wherever they go. Mingling R&B grooves, pop hooks, and hip hop swag, the teen quartet—Prodigy, Roc Royal, Ray Ray, and Princeton—has quickly become a modern musical phenomenon with an army of screaming fans following them everywhere. On their debut album for Streamline/Conjunction/Interscope Records, #1 Girl [available September 20, 2011], the group fuels that hysteria with numerous worldwide anthems. In August, cartoonist Aaron McGruder, creator of the infamous Boondocks comic strip and cartoon series will premier a new show titled "Black Jesus" on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim time slot. The comedy parody show features a live action series of Jesus as a black man in Compton, CA. This show has brought about good and negative publicity for AS and McGruder, but how should black pastors engage the show and the viewers? Is the show any more offensive than Jesus Christ Superstar, Tyler Perry's Madea series, or even George Burns' O God movie series?
Our skin, as most of us know, is the largest organ of our body. It covers us from head to toe, and shaded in many colors. It is our first line of defense against rain, snow, heat, cold, and disease.
Generally speaking, most people want to have smooth, clear, youthful skin. No blemishes, spots, or wrinkles. Millions of dollars are spent to ensure this. In magazines, movies, and other outlets, the portrayal of youthful skin titliates our eyes.
In fact, we're told that if our skin is bruised, cut, burned, we do whatever we can to get it back to it's original state. Sometimes we want to hide the ravagings effects of trauma, whatever that may be, from the world or even ourselves.
There is more to this than just a physical part of our body. The skin we're in encases a soul that is shaped by the experiences. Those events can be positive or negative but they are there. Even so, God uses this soul, wrapped in this skin, to bring about His will.
