Our guest this morning is Holly Socrates of Holly Socrates Gallery located in El Segundo.
Although formally trained in fine arts, Holly spent over a decade working in the fashion industry where she held titles as merchandiser, designer and wardrobe stylist. It wasn’t until 2008 when she returned to her first love, painting. She is perhaps best known for her serene imagery and unusual combinations of media, like charcoal and coffee or paint and fibers.
After six years of showing and selling her work in the South Bay and West Side, Holly decided it was time to open her own gallery. In November of 2014, the Holly Socrates Gallery opened their doors on a charming corner of Main Street in downtown El Segundo. Since opening her gallery, Holly fell in love with the small town charm and growing artistic culture that El Segundo has to offer.
Meeting many creative professionals in town, Holly was inspired to create the El Segundo Art Walk. The El Segundo Art Walk is a “studio visit” style walk where patrons tour the creative businesses in downtown El Segundo and Smoky Hollow.
She is not only interested in promoting fine arts and creatives in the community, Holly also gives back through her involvement with art programs for local schools. She teaches workshops in programs such as Young at Art, Art to Grow On and Hands on Art. These non-profit organizations have been subsidizing fine art in schools for over 35 years.
This morning, we’re going to learn about the inaugural El Segundo Art Walk happening tonight beginning at 5 p.m.

Discover • Manifest • Transform!
During this episode, we will explore the powerful transformation tool of Compassionate Observation! Our guest Co-Host, Francis M. Acevedo Franco, and I will explore the reawakening experience and the evolving transitions we encounter as we expand consciousness.
These transitions can be challenging, however there are tools to be had that can minimize the struggle and maximize expanded understanding. Practicing Compassionate Observation, I believe, will greatly empower and ease the transition experience. We will discuss what it is, how to use it, while sharing personal experiences as examples in action.
Please do join the discussion with your comments and questions by calling in or reaching out through our chat board!
Together WE create the Shift!
As a speaker and a blogger Chanel Dionne unashamedly shares her journey through hardship and triumph. During her adolescence and as a young woman she faced many trials. In 2009 she found herself in a very dark place in her life and fell prey to the mind control of a pimp and was sex trafficked. After falling for his false promises of a better life and freedom she lost everything including her identity.
For 2 1/2 years she lived and breathed the "fast life" of working in the sex industry. Then in 2011 she managed to finally walk away and never go back. After leaving the industry and moving back to her hometown Chanel would still find herself unable to resist and break free from the shameful past she carried. It was not until after a suicide attempt that a co-worker slipped her note and shared with her the good news about a man named Jesus Christ that she began to start to see the light.
In 2012, she joined a local Baptist church and publicly gave her life to Christ by baptism and since that day her life has been one of total transformation. Today she serves as a true witness of Christ grace, love, and mercy. Her passion is speaking and writing about her life so light can be shed on a hurting generation. Chanel Dionne believes there is hope for ANYONE regardless of their background. She lives and serves as a personal witness to the belief that she stands on today.
On June 23, 2015 Chanel will be publishing her very first book entitled, “Lost Girl Saved By Grace” where she will share her journey to redemption with you more in depth. She also plans to use her story to enlighten the world on how close to home sex trafficking can be and to challenge the culture to rise up and to take action!

Welcome to Happiness Index. Today we will continue to explore the ideas we hold about Hope, Faith & Service as a path to happiness. Hope is an optimistic attitude of mind based on an expectation of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. Faith is a sense of knowing and a tapping into a deep belief of what will be. We will deepen our understanding of race, hope and service as implicated in our book Beyond Fear, we explored these issues personally, communally and in-depth. Vaclav Havel said it best that, Hope is not prognostication. It is an orientation of the spirit, an orientation of the heart; it transcends the world that is immediately experienced, and is anchored somewhere beyond its horizons. Service is the practice of bringing our hopes to life. It is an action – an art of being helpful to another.
