ArtFairCalendar.com has just finished its 2nd annual "America's Best Art Fairs" survey and we announce the winners. This is the only national online survey of the country's juried art fairs and craft shows, designed to reward the festivals that create opportunities connecting artists and communities to celebrate the arts.
We asked our mailing list of over 50,000 art fair patrons what was the best art fair in the country and had an amazing nationwide response. Nearly 90% of the respondents completed the lengthy 20 question survey and the answers were both expected and intriguing.
Not surprisingly: people love to attend art fairs and many travel long distances to do so. The overall conclusion is: Art is Alive and Well in America and attendance at the nation's shows is proof of that.
Listen to find out what the Top 50 shows in the country are as voted on by the people who attend them and collect art. Find out which they have chosen as the best regional fairs, best urban fair, best small market show and the best cities for art fairs.
We'll share the survey answers on:
what makes a show "Best"
why people say they attend an art fair
how art fair goers find out about shows to attend
why they don't attend shows they used to love
how far they travel to art fairs
their suggestions for show organizers
Laura Berarducci from the Ann Arbor Convention & Visitors Bureau also reports on the economic impact of the Ann Arbor Art Fairs in that community.
The mission of ArtFairCalendar.com is to promote the unique American tradition of art fairs by showcasing the events where art collectors find hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind fine work for sale and encourage the interaction of client and creator.

Dean Grant which has provided filmmakers with millions of dollars in goods and services and played a crucial role in establishing the careers of our most important documentary filmmakers.
Carole is the author of The Art of Film Funding: Alternative Financing Concepts, now in its second edition, and The Art of Manifesting: Creating Your Future. She is the executive producer for Women Behind the Camera, BAM 6.6, American Chain Gang and Step Away From the Stone. Rick “Slick Rick” Walters was born in London in 1965 and moved with his family to the Bronx in 1975.
Charlie Rock of HARLEM WORLD CREW was very instrumental in bringing “Ricky D” AKA “Slick Rick” and together when he was request by Doug to introduce him to Rick after he has seen him win a number of local MC battle contest. It was at a MC Contest at the 369 Armory on 142nd street in Harlem, given by promotion partners Ray chandler & Charlie Rock, The Rick & Doug were formally introduced by Rock.
As a 19-year-old in the summer of 1985 he scored his first big hits, “La Di Da Di” and “The Show.”
Three years later Def Jam Recordings released Rick’s first full-length album, “The Great Adventures of Slick Rick”. Hailed as a showcase for Rick’s extraordinary writing and rapping skills, it quickly achieved “platinum” status for sales in excess of one million copies and has since established itself as a rap classic.
At the height of his fame in July of 1990, Rick shot and wounded two people in an ill-advised attempt to protect himself against a violent predator. Convicted of attempted murder in the second degree, he began serving his sentence of three-to-ten years in 1991. While he was in jail, he released “The Ruler’s Back” (1991) and “Behind Bars” (1994).
After his release in 1999 he released “The Art of Storytelling.”

This week we're talking once again to Canadian author, artist, and martial arts expert, Stefan Verstappen. Stefan has a professional background in communications and business management and has travelled extensively throughout East Asia, where he has studied oriental art, culture and Kung Fu.
Stefan is the author of 'The art of urban survival' from which the viral YouTube video documentary 'Defense Against the Psychopath' was taken.
Stedan has recently produced another video on the topic of historical cycles of human civilization and the manner in which they appear to repeat. In his video, Stefan makes the case that we are currently in the final stage of our cycle of history, defined, like all others, by widespread chaos. Historically, only small groups of people survived the periods of destruction that defined the end of a cycle, and they did so by forming themselves into tight-knit communities with specific organizational structures.
Join us this Sunday 23rd November 2014 from 2-4pm EST (8-10pm CET) as we discuss vital strategies for daunting times.
