Hear about a parent's experience with Common Core that was not supposed to happen. The book by Toni Morrison, The Bluest Eye was banned from Alabama High Schools yet another book by same author of the same mold (written ) is being taught. The Common Core Standards Initiative has been warned by Early Childhood Development Experts and Mental Health Experts as harmful, developmentally inappropriate and by one as "Cognitive Abuse". Alabama has a chance to repeal it.
... Education Secretary Arne Duncan called Hurricane Katrina "the best thing that happened to the education system in New Orleans" because it forced the community to take steps to improve low-performing public schools, according to excerpts from a television interview made public Friday.
Yes, he did say it. As reported in The Washington Post, Duncan's interview on "Washington Watch With Roland Martin" was scheduled to air Sunday on TV One.
I guess we need Hurricane Katrina's in every state of the union as far as this color aroused bigot is concerned.
The excerpts quoted an exchange between Duncan and Martin about the effect of the 2005 hurricane on the city's schools.
Martin was quoted as saying: "What's amazing is New Orleans was devastated because of Hurricane Katrina, but because everything was wiped out, in essence, you are building from ground zero to change the dynamics of education in that city."
Duncan was quoted as replying: "It's a fascinating one. I spent a lot of time in New Orleans, and this is a tough thing to say, but let me be really honest. I think the best thing that happened to the education system in New Orleans was Hurricane Katrina. That education system was a disaster, and it took Hurricane Katrina to wake up the community to say that 'we have to do better.' And the progress that they've made in four years since the hurricane is unbelievable. They have a chance to create a phenomenal school district. Long way to go, but that -- that city was not serious about its education. Those children were being desperately underserved prior, and the amount of progress and the amount of reform we've seen in a short amount of time has been absolutely amazing." Let's talk about Barack Obama's Education plans tonight on the slugfest. "If you can handle the truth."
Hear Joan Landes, mental health therapist, share her perspective on the Common Core. It is an eye-awakening and maddening experience to hear that we are not using the correct tools to help children in our Education System. How sad that they who tell children to do their homework are not doing the same on Common Core and therefore is causing tremendous damage to tender children. After 4 years of Common Core Math, Prof Jim Milgram says the damage to children is irretrievable so with that in mind--this is Emergency Time for ALL. The mind of a child is precious in God's eyes. He tells us to think aupon things that are holy, good and pure. The only thing pure about Common core is sadly that it is hogwash. Let's get armed with the truth and throw that stone to our elected officials and tell them to remember His Word to do no harm to His precious children.
Hr1 David Bego, author of Devil at Our Doorstep, talks about unions, SEIU, cardcheck, right to work, immigration, and what all that has to do with the recent racial divide and riots in Ferguson, Baltimore, and New York.
Hr2 Boy Scouts say don't teach little boys how to fire water guns, it might teach them... what?! How about you could teach them to respect life, and gun safety? It's about values, not weapons.
Corey Duncan, Baltimore correspondent joins Joe to talk about what's REALLY going on over there now that things are supposedly simmered down. City government has turned their backs on law enforcement. The new Attorney General leaves much to be desired. And Michelle Obama is an angry black woman.
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?
There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.
Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.
But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!
If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!

We use too much energy for negativity towards each other instead of using positive energy to build each other. Often times we forget that each person have the right to have an independent opinion without fear of being attacked because others disagree. We need to stop, listen, and simplify what it is that we have heard. Often we are quick to respond to what is being said instead of letting it marinate in our spirit. Maybe the words are needed to feed the soul/spirit yet we are quick to reject that which we fail to recognize or thought of first. Once we get away from our own EGO’s (Everyone’s Greatest Obstacle) or PRIDE (Personal Reasoning inside Dividing Everyone) we may see things differently. So ask yourself what is more important, PRIDE/EGO or acknowledging everyone have their own feelings? Can you aceept Personal Responsibility of how you treat others?
