The Green Bay Packers regained first place, in the NFC North, by defeating the Minnesota Vikings 30-13. Both teams have 7-3 records, but with the win the Packers own the head to head tiebreaker. The victory snaps a three game losing streak for the Packers, and ended the Vikings five game winning streak. After scoring 17 combined first half points during the last three games, the Packers held a 16-6 halftime advantage. Mason Crosby kicked two more second half field goals, giving him five for the day. Aaron Rodgers hit James Jones for a 27-yard touchdown late in the third quarter to give the Packers a 14 point lead. On the ensuing drive, the Vikings drove into Packers territory but Adrian Peterson fumbled after a 10 yard run.
The Packers defense domintaed the Vikings offensive line by applying constant pressure to Teddy Bridgewater. Officially, they recorded six sacks, but Bridgewater had to throw a number of balls away because of the pressure. Peterson entered the game as the NFL's leadng rusher, and averaged 21.7 attempts per game. He was held to 45 yards on 13 carries.
Eddie Lacy rushed 22 times for 100 yards, marking his first 100 yard performance of the year. Lacy ran with power, and finished his runs all day. With the lead, the Packers leaned on Lacy to grind out tough yards and take time off the clock. On the stat sheet, Rodgers was not spectacular; 16-34 for 212 yards with two touchdowns. His first touchdown was aided by a 50-yard pass interference play on a third and fifteen with 1:53 remaining, in the first half. Back to back penalties allowed the Packers to finish the drive with the touchdown. On a third and nine, Rodgers found Richard Rodgers for a touchdown that was nullified because of offsetting penalties. David Bakhtiari was called for holding, and Linval Jospeh was flagged for roughing the passer so the Packers were not backed up 10 yards. Anthony Barr was called for illegal contact on the next play.
This week Sean Woodley is joined by John Gaudes and Harsh Dave to break down a bizarre Raptors road trip, complain about the Raptors' lack of offensive creativity late in games, examine the effect Jonas Valanciunas' injury will have on the Raptors in the immediate future and salivate over the play of Cory Joseph. This episode is brought to you by Reggie Evans.
The New York Jets in a Must win situation - did'nt. They're no longer in the AFC Wildcard Picture. The Texans have Some quality Defensive Players and one special wide reciever named DeAndre Hopkins.
The Jets lost more than a game, more than a playoff spot. They lost their star Defensive back Darrelle Revis to a concussion and Center Nick Mangold to a right hand injury that required stitches.
Each week the New York Jets have had a new and different problem costing them the game; excepting their Special Teams which have been a problem from the start of the season. This Team needs Offensive line help. A pass Rush and a sense of urgency.
Ryan Fitzpatrick and his injured companions had player execution problems again this week; Kenbrel Thompkins was inactive in favor of Devin Smith, who again could not deliver. Does Todd Bowles have what it takes to win situational Fooball and are he and Chan Gailey on the same page?
Let's talk Dolphin's. Yes, they're 6 -4 but that does'nt mean this Jets Team will beat them this Sunday.
Join Hosts Herb LaLane (@ThaKingofQueens) and James Boyd (@OneJetDrive) as we break it down and talk about our position in the AFC East and conference.
LakersNation.com's Jabari Davis was joined by Jamieson Welsh (Fox Sports Radio) and Jordan Buscarini (Castle Country Radio) for this weeks episode. The three of them discussed Kobe Bryant's recent reminder to the young players of this team's necessity to work the ball around on the offensive end and why there's a lot of "pot" meet "kettle" in that suggestion, D'Angelo Russell's steady improvement, Coach Scott's admission that he still struggles with balancing Bryant's minutes and why that remains problematic and several Twitter topics provided by you listeners.
They also dove into this week's LakersNation.com Roundtable Question: What does Julius Randle need to work on in order to continue what has already been an impressive development process.
