What is the recipe for a successful life? Do all little boys have to play baseball? Are hotdogs good for us? How much sugar is in apple pie? Is life a picnic? Do you think people are really happy in life or pretending to accept the world around them?
What do you think reflects a person's success in life? Let's talk about it all. If we don't look at what success is how can we expect our children to reach a level of sucess to be self-sustainable?
Behold, thy Lord said to the angels: "I will create a vicegerent on earth." They said: "Wilt Thou place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood?- whilst we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy holy (name)?" He said: "I know what ye know not."
Violence. We see it on the web, the local and national news.
It seems that either literally or figuratively, we all are getting a taste of the “apple pie” that H-Rap Brown (aka Imam Jamil Al-Amin), spoke of years ago. Make no mistake; within the context of that particular observation, this is far from a sweet dessert, but a bitter acrid cider of devastation and despair.
The well-publicized acts of violence capture the dreaded imagination and hysterical fear of the populace, and the intellectualization of politicians, sociologists and a host of “intellectuals”.
Of particular concern today, is what appears to be a rise in violent behavior by black people, both men and women.
What has happened over time?
Are black people becoming more violent than ever, or are we (including this writer), unwitting victims of a press propaganda machine that disproportionately focuses on violent crimes committed by black people, thus giving others’ a “pass”?
Do the YouTube and Worldstarhiphop videos speak to a complete social, moral, cultural and spiritual breakdown of our community?
What about black women? Are the caricatures in the Madea movies or in in Martin Lawrence sitcoms just comedy, or what many presume are accurate depictions of a “strong” black woman?
What are the factors in our violent behavior? Poverty? Lack of fathers? Diet? Music? “Leaders” who only seem to be concerned when the violent offenders are white?
We want to review these points and more, this Saturday, November 15th, on Critical Discourse

This first episode features an introduction to the book Slicing Heaven: Takes, Poetry, and Recipes from the Slice of Heaven 24-Hour Pie Shop and Driving Range, and closes with an admitedly poetic recipe for lemonade pie:
How to make Lemonade Pie
Take all your disappointments, sorrows, and grief
Soak in tequila overnight
Wake up wanting something sweet and crunchy
Mash it up for the crust with real butter
And extra cinnamon
Distill the liquid ingredients
Until you have something you can use
Fold in some whole organic eggs and heat ever so slowly
In time it will thicken
In time it will jell
Pour into the crust
And then, baby,
All you need to do is
What sluggish start?
After closing to within one game of the Washington Nationals, the red hot New York Mets are taking a well deserved rest Thursday evening before resuming their march on first place Friday against the visiting San Francisco Giants.
This afternoon's Phillies victory over the Nationals, however, put the Mets just one-half game out of first place. And so the Rising Apple Report therefore decided to kick things up another notch tonight in their place.
How hot are they? The Mets returned to Citi Field on Monday after a victorious 7-2 road trip. They're winners of 11 of their last 13 games, and in the midst of a 6-game winning streak via consecutive series sweeps over the Braves and Reds.
Rising Apple staff writers Michael Lecoland, Sam Maxwell, and Rich Sparago, will review player performances and the Mets' successful, albeit unfinished month of April, and ponder where they go from here.
The 131st episode of the Rising Apple Report kicks off Thursday evening at 9:00pm ET sharp!
As always, they welcome you to phone the show at 646-929-0337, and join their spirited, never ending Metsian discussion.

We’re going to spend this entire “relaxed” Frat House Saturday program talking football, NFL, and the results from the early rounds of the NFL Draft . . . and the majority of it will be with LIVE guests AND YOUR calls!
Frat House Mike will be joined LIVE by Jason Leach of ProFootballSpot.com to chat about the New York Giants picks; the NFC East; and the rest of the more interesting selections.
Some of those interesting selections came from the San Francisco 49ers that traded back up into the 1st Round to get a second pick in the first round. WHY? Anthony Passo, host of “The Passo Garage”, joins us to chat about some of what the Niners are doing and we’ll ask him for a grade.
Finally, it would seem the Denver Broncos got their next “franchise” quarterback with Paxton Lynch of Memphis and to help us get inside the mind of John Elway is our Frat House Sports friend Jake Marsing of MileHighHuddle.com
You want to be tuned in for a very entertaining “relaxed” Frat House Saturday with Frat House Mike coming your way at 2 p.m. ET and, as always, your calls: 347 – 826 – 9964
The highlight was seeing Tim Cook address the elephant in the room right away.
"We did not expect to be in this position at odds with our own government. But we believe strongly we have a responsibility to help you protect your data and protect your privacy. We owe it to our customers, and we owe it to our country. This is an issue that impacts all of us, and we will not shrink from this responsibility." — Tim Cook at the Apple launch event March 21, 2016
What do great leaders do differently?
And how can you become a great leader even if you’re an employee?
About 10 years ago, bestselling author Simon Sinek made a profound discovery that changed his entire view on the world and how he operates in it. His discovery was this:
"All the great inspiring leaders and organizations in the world, whether it’s Apple or Martin Luther King or the Wright brothers, they all think, act and communicate the exact same way. And it’s the complete opposite to everyone else. All I did was codify it, and it’s probably the world’s simplest idea. I call it the golden circle."
