SC EP:54 Ape Canyon Sasquatch Attacks!

    in Science

"First of all, I wish to give an account of the attack and tell of the famous incident of July, 1924, when the "Hairy Apes" attacked our cabin. We had been prospecting for six years in the Mt. St. Helens and Lewis River area in Southwest Washington. We had, from time to time, come across large tracks by creek beds and springs. In 1924 I and four other miners were working our gold claim, the Vander White. It was two miles east of Mt. St. Helens near a deep canyon now named "Ape Canyon" — which was so named after an account of the incident reached the newspapers"-Fred Beck

We also speak to a Police Officer who investigated a bigfoot attack on a person. He also discusses some strange calls he has been on that were Sasquatch related.

The final guest talks about two encounters he has had. One of his encounters is very disturbing when he came face to face with a Sasquatch.

Exploring Jordan, Art of Dr. Seuss, Ken Burns

    in Travel

Although the country of Jordan is surrounded by "noisey neighbors" it is the safest country in the Middle East because of the Swiss-like neutrality it has maintained.  The spirit of hospitality that is ingrained in the Bedouin culture, which accounts for 40% of Jordan's population, transcends throughout the country.  Janine Jervis with Visit Jordan describes Jordan as an open-air museum because of its voluminous history and archaeological treasures but she tells us that Jordan is also cosmopolitan and diverse in its tourism offerings.

Theodor (Ted)  Seuss Geisel, best known as Dr. Seuss, wore many hats beyond a childrens book author and illustrator.  He was also a social commentator and his work tackled many issues like racial inequality and the environment.  Dr. Seuss also enjoyed creating "unorthodox" taxidermy and part of his "secret art" series poked fun at socialites. We will explore the colorful life of Ted Geisel with curator of The Art of Dr. Seuss, Bill Dreyer.

Filmmaker Ken Burns has shared a vareity of America's history through his popular documentary films, including:  Baseball (1994); The Central Park Five (2013); The Civil War (1990); and The Roosevelts (2014).  His style of filmmaking incorporates archival footage and photographs to help craft America's stories.  As part of our "Best Of" interviews, we have gone into our archives to share our 2009 interview with Ken Burns and his film The National Parks: America's Best Idea.

Mark Amaru Pinkham: Sedona, City of Star People

    in News

Sedona: City of the Star People reveals the esoteric history of Sedona, Arizona, which author Pinkham says was known in very ancient times as Palatkwapi, the “Red House.” According to Hopi legend, Extraterrestrial Star People built Palatkwapi as a glorious city of sacred wisdom. It was here that the migrating Hopis learned their sacred rites and dances, as well as many mysteries of the universe.

Since 1987, author Mark Amaru Pinkham has been blessed with the ability to envision Palatkwapi as it exists now?an interdimensional city that co-exists with the physical town of Sedona. Many of Palatkwapi’s temples continue to exist physically within Sedona in a water-worn condition, and on higher dimensions they survive in their original perfection. In Sedona: City of the Star People Mark recounts his first experiences with the temples of Palatkwapi in Boynton Canyon, the largest of the four major vortexes of Sedona, and then he shares his experiences during the following 27 years as he continuously returns to study their design and function.

The book culminates in Mark’s discovery of a royal court composed of red rock temples that he now identifies as the ancient seat of the Hopis’ King of the World, the Star Being known as Masau’u. Through his direct study with the Yezidi priests of Iraq, Mark has further discovered that Masau’u is another name for the Yezidis’ King of the World, Tawsi Melek, the Peacock Angel, and that the planetary monarch is due to soon make his presence known among the masses. Could it be in Sedona?

Discrimination against blacks is linked to dehumanization, according to a paper entitled "Not Yet Human: Implicit Knowledge, Historical Dehumanization and Contemporary Consequences," by Dr. Jennifer Eberhardt (2008)

Crude historical depictions of African Americans as ape-like may have disappeared from mainstream U.S. culture, but research presented in a new paper by psychologists at Stanford, Pennsylvania State University and the University of California-Berkeley reveals that many Americans subconsciously associate blacks with apes.
