Night Eating Syndrome
Body Dysmorphic Disorder
An eating disorder is an unhealthy relation between an individual, food and weight. In any type of eating disorder, people tend to use food as a relational or coping mechanism.
Did you know: 4 out of 10 Americans have either suffered or have known someone who has suffered from an eating disorder. Many believe eating disorders to be vanity, most don’t understand the severity of an eating disorder. It is a disease, an illness if you will that is very complex and requires treatment.
Is it true that you may be suffering from an eating disorder unaware?
An eating disorder is an illness that causes serious disturbances to your everyday diet, such as eating extremely small amounts of food or severely overeating. A person with an eating disorder may have started out just eating smaller or larger amounts of food, but at some point, the urge to eat less or more spiraled out of control. Severe distress or concern about body weight or shape may also signal an eating disorder. Common eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder. NIMH

A dysfunctional family limits a child's ability to express feelings, to be nurtured, and even to talk about major problems. It affects our ability to have quality relationships later in life. When we come from a dysfunctional family, we often grow up compensating by giving ourselves over to codependency, alcoholism, addiction, eating disorders, compulsive behaviors, or by becoming hyper-religious. We allow shame and low self-esteem to erode the quality of our life. By focusing on Jesus Christ, we can heal completely, leave the dysfunction behind, and start living the life we were called to by our Creator, the Most High God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
This week is Part 2 of a series we began last week.
