The Voice of Europe: Internet anonymity

    in Politics

On August 16, Lucian Vâlsan, James Huff, Huffnágel Pista, the special guest and whoever shall call in will be talking about the issue of anonymity online and how one can secure his privacy and why he should care.
We will talk about the little things one should do in order to increase his anonymity and avoid the ever increasing surveillance mechanisms that the State is trying to put in place in Europe and elsewhere on the Internet.
Some avoid taking minimal steps in this direction out of fear that the technical steps are too complicated, others simply don’t know that it can be done whilst some don’t do it out of commodity. We will address all these reasons and others and provide deep insight on the topic.

The subject is tricky so please join us and call in at (001) 310 388 9709, or Skype in, after the interview. Our guest will take questions and this is a unique opportunity to talk to an expert on these issues.
The show will commence at 7 PM GMT (London, Reykjavik and Lisbon time).
That is 8 PM CET (Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Rome, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Budapest, Berlin, Vienna, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Bern, Bratislava, Prague, Belgrade, Tirana, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Skopje time)
That is 9 PM EET (Helsinki, Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, Kiev, Chisinau, Bucharest, Sofia, Athens, Ankara and Nicosia time)
That is 10 PM FEET (Minsk time)
And, finally, 11 PM Moscow time.
For the listeners in America this means 2 PM EST, 1 PM CST, 12 PM MST and 11 AM PST. (times adjusted in accordance with DST both for Europe and America)
For the listeners in Australia, this means August 10, 2 AM (AWST) in West Australia and 4 AM AEST.

Honey Badger Radio: Anonymity For Me but Not For Thee

    in Blogs

Currently we afford rape accusers anonymity. We only afford anonymity to the accuser for rape or other sexual crimes; we don’t do this for any other crime.

The rationale is that rape accusers face unique stigma for being seen as rape victims. Or rather they face the unique stigma of being accused of really having engaged in consensual sex.

As for the presumptively innocent men that they accuse…

Well, who gives a f**k about them and the stigma they face.

Join us tonight on this episode of Honey badger radio, Anonymity for me but not for thee. As we discuss anonymity in rape trials.

Also, last week we were trolled by 4chan. Specifically 4chan’s my little pony board. After weathering the fury and find it less than furious, we have to ask… did 4chan white knight… us?

    Anonymity/Privacy-(Real life and Online)

    in Lifestyle

    Anonymity-the state of being anonymous.
When I first thought about this, in my mind, I thought of Facebook as having a serious lack for anonymity. But this just isn't about the internet. I'm talking about it, period. Anonymity has exsisted for so many years. Authors like Mark Twain(Samual Clemons) William Shakespere were (pen names). people use anymity for many different reasons. Security, modesty, etc. Even on the internet, some people use anonymous names because they would like to keep some or most aspects of there personal life to themselves. But unfortunately, with the increase in technological advancement nowadays, it's getting harder to do. Facebook is a great example. Some of the recent changes that they've made are making it nearly impossible to keep anything private.
We're talking about "Anonymity" this week, "On-Air"

    Beware Anonymous Predators

    in Self Help

In 2011, Karla Brada Mendez was strangled to death by Eric Allen Earle, a man she met at a 12-step meeting. Anonymity rules help obscure people with criminal records, and many new members, especially women, report being the targets of unwanted sexual advances. Dozens of women wrote to tell me what one study already showed, that a majority are harassed. Many are groped and some are raped. Some are even murdered.
