Virgin Islands animal rescue organizations will get a boon from the chupacabra this summer. Ye Gods! A Tale of Dogs and Demons, the latest novel by former Virgin Islands resident Lynne Hinkey, is a tale of magic and monsters run amok on a Caribbean island. Lynne is donating 100% of the proceeds from ebook sales to animal rescue groups with the Animal Care Center of St. John, St. Thomas Humane Society, and St. Croix Animal Welfare Center benefitting in July, August, and September, respectively. "It's a two-fer deal," Lynne explains. "When you buy Ye God!, you get a good read and do a good deed.
The star of Ye Gods! is the chupacabra (Spanish for "goat-sucker"), a beast that captured the nation's imagination and has made its way into pop culture. Lynne's madcap crime-caper, "a Scooby-Doo meets Murder, She Wrote mash-up," tackles the mythology surrounding the monster with some new and hilarious twist.
Lynne is a "marine scientist by training, author by passion, and curmudgeon by nature." She moved to St. Thomas as a 19-year-old to attend the then College of the Virgin Islands and later worked for the UVI Marine Advisory Service. Her debut novel, Marina Melee, is set on the fictional island of São Jorge, a place that should seem familiar since it's based on St. Thomas. The story of Ye Gods! and the chupacabra was inspired by actual events in Puerto Rico, where Lynne did her doctoral studies at the University of Puerto Rico.
Lynne is available for interviews, book readings and signings, and book club appearances via Skype, phone, or other online venues. Contact her at email@example.com
Please join us as we discuss our County Animal Shelters, What's really going on behind those doors, Rules and Regulations for mutliple states and what we can do to improve upon these.
Debbie Dahmer will co-host this show.
Tonight is the pilot show for animal advocacy. The inhumane treatment of companion animals, farm animals and wild animals has got to stop. As human beings we are capable of and accountable for, far more than what we are doing. There is nothing human or humane about mistreating an animal and even less in knowing that it happens with such frequency and doing nothing about it.
Animal shelters are over capacity with abandoned and abused animals, many simply dumped in the street and abandoned, others rescued from horrendous neglect and abuse at the hands of their owners. What kind of person does this to a vulnerable animal?
There are numerous groups and organizations devoted to protecting and saving these tortured creatures. We will be discussing these groups, including online petitions and other activities aimed at rescue, protection and adoption services.
Please join us as we open the dialogue on the miserable state of affairs regarding all of our injured and abondoned animals. We are their caretakers and protectors. We need to do more!
This show will be co-hosted by "The Dahmenator" (Debbie Dahmer)
Please join us as we discuss shelters, and adopting pets.
Howard Epstein joins us this evening from Los Angeles to talk about pet adoption and why some breeds may not be suitable for all people. Of special interest is the Pit Bull breed. Are they really dangerous? Who should not consider a Pit Bull as a house pet? What do these particular dogs require for care? What is the extent of owner responsibility?
Howard is a true activist and works to actively shelter and protect homeless pets. His concern is the bad rap that Pit Bulls get from media and the public and those who do not educate themselves about this highly intelligent breed.
This show will be co-hosted by Dahmer
Every year, millions of abused and abandoned animals are gassed to death, or chemically killed. As usual, instead of going after the CAUSE of these claimed overpopulated animals, we instead kill off large numbers of them. We react instead of being pro-active.
While it is true that pet owners need to have their pets spayed and nuetered, this process is so cost prohibitive in many cases that owners simply cannot afford to have it done.
The average cost of spaying and nuetering across the country is 85.00 to 150 dollars. The cost of euthanizing these same animals is as much or more. Wouldn't it make better economic sense to offer low cost spay and nueter, and avoid the costly euthanizing?
Every year organizations claiming to exist to protect animals from abuse, neglect and possbile euthansia, collect millions upon millions of dollars in donations. Instead of funding kill shelters, would we not be better served to fund free or reduced cost spay and nueter clinics? This would reduce unwanted populations of animals that eventually are held in shelters waiting to die. I know the animals would appreciate it.
Join us as we discuss our unsavory acceptance gas chambers and other methods of killing off unwanted animals.

Friday, August 1st, my guest on Taking Control of Your Destiny is author Katherine Symthe. Katherine will be discussing her new book, Unbreakable: The Story of the Unrelenting Spirit of Katherine Symthe.
About the book:
Unbreakable: The Unrelenting Spirit of Katherine Svoi Symthe is a terrifying, enthralling and soul-shaking read that just might change you for life. Katherine Symthe grew up in horror that most of us could not comprehend even a fragment of: sold for sex as a child, abused in every way imaginable by her family, and living in squalor and adjacent to animal abuse from birth. Now, as an adult, she recounts the process of dealing with those memories and how that childhood trauma continues to affect her relationships later in life.
About the author:
Katherine Svoi Symthe is an experienced corporate executive with over 20 years’ experience in Management and Operations. She received her A. A. in Dance, B.A in Theatre Management, over 20 certifications in Mental Health, Life Coaching, and Psychology along with a B.A in Education, and Psychology. In 2012, Symthe legally changed her forged birth certificate name, that the traffickers had given her to her pen name Katherine Svoi Symthe. She was bought for $500.00 from San Antonio in or around 1972. In 2008 Symthe returned back to San Antonio, Texas: her true home. The name change allowed Symthe to reclaim her life and Voice. Today, Symthe owns House of SVOI, Inc. and Healing Survivors, Creating Thrivers Foundation that is leading the movement to education, awareness and eradication of abuse, and human trafficking. Healing Survivors, Creating Thrivers enables victims/survivors/thrivers to have a global voice by drawing a line in the sand and taking a stand. It’s time to take back our cities starting with San Antonio, Texas in 2014.
For decades, filmmakers have toyed with the notion, and with some success, of having man and animal share the same "limelight". Movies like "Lassie" and "Ladd a Dog" come to mind, from back in the 60's. Well, we'd like to take this friendship, between man and animal, into the new millennium, with some wildly creative, and fun films including man, animals, and animation! Tune in and join the conversation!

People are afraid to come on the show because it's rowdy, I guess. But that's crazy. Is there a more fun show on social media? I don't think so.
I know, sometimes people complain that it's boring but you know what? If the guest did a little prep they'd surely have something to say because we only ask them to tell us how they do what they do every single day.
So come on and volunteer to be interviewed on The Recruiting Animal Show. All you need to know is here: AnimalShowBasics.com
Found quite a few amazing clips on the internet about animal rights, and it is rare to come across videos that really and truly capture this topic very seriously. I found one in particular that really touched me, so I will play it for you, and offer commentary if needed. The clips are never played in their entirety, and only highlight the most important parts on these podcasts.
I hope you get as much out of this as I do, and it inspires you to do your own research and what not.
Podcasts should only be the beginning, not the end, of a search for the truth of many important topics/issues, etc.
