Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1198

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Jennifer Martinez from Garland, Texas. "I speak to groups of individuals regarding Child sexual abuse and my personal experience with this topic," she says. "It is my passion to motivate and inspire individuals who struggle with anger and forgiveness." Jennifer was sexual abused by her older cousin from age of 3 to 11. She never told anyone, and grew up troubled and tormented by her past. She secretly hated her mother for not protecting her. Jennifer had her first child at 16 and was pregnant again by the age of 19 years old, and attempted shortly after her second child was born. A Psychiatrist diagnosed her with bipolar disorder which was then called "manic depression." At her very first family therapy session Jennifer told her mother what her nephew had done to her, and she found out that her cousin had tried to sexual abuse her sisters, too. Years later Jennifer found out that her aunts husband had been sexually abusing her abuser. By the time she was 25 Jennifer was a single mother of five children. After many highs and lows, feelings of guilt, hopelessness, hatred, unforgiveness and several suicide attempts, Jennifer decided enough was enough. She wanted to learn how to control her episodes in order to give her children a chance at life. Jennifer obtained her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in counseling. She currently works for the State of Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative services as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and counsels and guides individuals with disabilities daily. Jennifer plans on entering the psychology Doctoral program in the fall.

    Common Questions About Pet Loss

    in Pets

Below are some of the most frequent questions we get at www.deathofmypet.com    We will go over the answers to these questions about pet loss and how it affects those of us who are are suffering.

How is it possible that I am sadder with the loss of my dog than with the loss of close family members?

For many people the love and companionship of a pet may be the only or certainly the strongest bond of unconditional love they have experienced.  It is also possible, like many of my clients, which you have been strong and practical while caring for ailing parents or friends.  But suddenly, your best friend and closest companion is dying and it is the last straw on a pile of buried emotions. It may be that your pet was your “safe place to go and soft spot to land.”

    2. I feel like I am going crazy. Am I ever going to feel normal again?

Yes, you will feel emotionally better but different than before.  You will eventually remember and rejoice in the many happy times you had with your pet.  You will be able to reflect on the many life lessons you shared.

    3. How long will I grieve my pet?

All of our emotions are individual.  When we love deeply, we grieve deeply.  Grief coaches often say that it takes about a year before your loss is the first thing you think of in the morning and the last thing you think about at night.

    Thirsty Thursdays

    in Entertainment

Snoodlovah A.K.A LOVAH LOVAH, is an upcoming female Hip Hop artist. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and has have lived in PA for 10 years. Her mother is hispanic, and her father is french and African American. As the only child from her parents growing up she had a lot of alone time, which gave her space to find out who she was at a pretty young age. She can say that she had a pretty fair childhood, it was only when she turned 14 that life began to show its true colors. In learning so, she had to toughen up and roll with the punches. Composing music has been her life since the age of ten. She started off battling her younger family members and ever since then it became her passion to speak through instruments. As she grew with her love for music, she found a hidden talent that she never knew. She was blessed remembering her mother cleaning her home from top to bottom every Saturday morning while playing her R&B music loudly.  Snoodlovah  would stand in the middle of the living room performing all her favorites songs. When her mother wasn’t cleaning she would play the R&B songs at a low volume and sing over the artist.  It was then, Snoodylovah knew from that point, she wanted to sing,

Eager to start her singing career, unfortunately at the age of 11, while visiting her grandmother in PA one summer, Snoodlovah had a life threatening accident in the local amusement park (Dorney Park). She drowned in the wave pool and damaged her voice box.  During recovery, she became discourage to even think about music, however after a couple months she realized this wasn’t the end and had to find a way to express herself and music was the only way.   In addition to Snoodlovah’s singing career, she has engaged in many theater, screen plays and improv.

    on Home Schooling & CPS

Do you want to avoid legal battles with social services and CPS and school your kids at home?

Are you worried about trafficking of school children into the social services care system and childrens' homes for possible prostitution and sexual abuse?

Are your child's teachers and social services telling lies against you and your child and you want nothing to do with them?

Are you worried and feel your child would do better being schooled at home?

Many parents don't realise that it is perfectly legal to deregister their children and have no further involvement with schools and social services.  They can provide education that they consider to be appropriate.

Men's college basketball has its first out gay coach in Bryant's Chris Burns

    in LGBT

Chris Burns, an assistant men's basketball coach at Bryant University, has come out as gay, making him the first publicly out men's college basketball coach. Burns shared a personal story on Outsports and USA Today did a feature story interviewing Burns and others at Bryant.

It's been a long time coming for Burns, who has been dating men since college. It's also a big deal for the coaching profession in general, as Burns has broken a key barrier in sports. And, like virtually every male athlete or coach to come out publicly over the last 15 years, Burns has been widely accepted and supported by people around the team and across the college basketball media.
