Light08 Radio Presents The Imagination at Work-Professor Griff Analytixz Conversationz

    in Culture

The New Year 2011 is upon us and today it's only fitting that my guest today is an individual who has empowered and continues to empower the minds of many of our youth moving forward. Professor Griff is an internationally renowned educator, writer, producer, musician, platinum recording/spoken word artist, lecturer and founding member of the pioneering and revolutionary hip hop group Public Enemy. He is one of those who laid the foundation for hip hop and a positive message about black culture to the youth. I recall first hearing PE as a young man and pulling my car over to listen to something that growing up on the West Coast we just didn't hear back in the mid-late 80's. It was powerful and edgy, political yet funky, but the message was definitely a serious one. There was a militant message no doubt but there was also an education system and progressive, positive self image instruction in 'culture conscious' hiphop back then as well. That message was deliberately and systematically removed from the vehicle expression called hiphop until today what remains is anything but what the originators put forth. Professor Griff has been on the frontline commentary section from day one and he still maintains an integrity as well as the truth in reality just as he did back then, when he was known as The Minister of Information for PE. He is 'your brother' to a lot of people and an example of what it means when you say 'keeping it real' which he obviously has. A living resource and supporter without apology of all that is good in potential with the youth and a candid brother with a variety of educated well thought out perspectives which is the driving force behind his book 'Analytixz' which we will discuss among other things. Kick off the 2K11 with my special guest Professor Griff on this segment of my Kwanzaa offering on the Imagination at Work.
