We're quite honoured to have Jack Long, the founder of Long & McQuade Musical Instruments, Yorkville Sound, and Traynor Amplification on this week's show - especially because, in addition to pioneering three brands that are probably recognizable to every musician in the country, was also just named to the Order of Canada for 2014 alongside peers like Rick Mercer and Chris Hadfield.
We also have an interview with Halifax-based celtic rock outfit The Stanfields. The band's official video for "Hard Miles" was just released and they're about to embark on a fall tour, primarly covering their home province of Nova Scotia. They're a riotous live band and have contributed to Canadian Musician in the past, so we're happy to have caught up with them at the Toronto Urban Roots Festival to get a glimpse at what's coming up for their camp.

According to boxing legend George Forman, “I get up in the morning looking for an adventure.” The same can be said about Calvin Schwartz. These days Cal divides his time between more activities than most of us -- Senior Writer NJ -The Shore Thing, novelist (Vichy Water), blogger, music journalist, biographer, and explorer of all things New Jersey. This Rutgers grad and former pharmacist has finally found his niche in journalism, and he’s using his writing skills and quest for knowledge to embark on a series of grand adventures. Just check out Cal on Facebook, and you’ll be apprised of his daily adventures. One day he’s at Grounds for Sculpture admiring Marilyn Monroe’s long legs, another day he’s hanging out with Comedian Mike Marino and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Vini Lopez at Warlock Drums. He recently had the honor of interviewing Princess Elettra Marconi Giovannelli, daughter the inventor of radio. To say Cal’s interests and pursuits are varied, is an understatement. This adventurer has auditioned for The Apprentice at age 60, examined paranormal activities, met more NJ musicians than most, advocated for the homeless, and has cultivated a strong spiritual side. But there is one Asbury Park experience Cal hasn’t had, and he’s going to share that with me this weekend. Curious? Thought so! Somehow with all this, Cal is developing a new web site which will be “the embodiment of what he’s done for the past 30 years.” After the interview, check out After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
Singer/songwriter/actor Keith Robinson was born in Kentucky, where he discovered his love of the arts at a young age. Singing took center stage in high school in Augusta, Georgia, and he was signed to a contract while attending the University of Georgia. Robinson was picked up by Motown Records and went on to perform with several top artists.
To put his career in high gear, Robinson decided to make a transition and move out to Los Angeles to further his singing career and try his hand at his other love, acting. His very first audition landed him the role of Joel Rawlings, the Green Ranger.
Keith was featured in the role of C.C. White, in the Hit "Dreamgirls", opposite Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, Jennifer Hudson, Anika Noni Rose, and Sharon Leal in Bill Condon's Academy Award-winning film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. His most recent feature film is the holiday-themed "This Christmas", where he is part of an ensemble cast that also includes Loretta Devine, Delroy Lindo, Idris Elba, Regina King and Chris Brown.
And August 1, 2014, Keith will be apart of the long awaited James Brown biopic, "Get On Up". Keith will be playing the role of Baby Roy, an original member of James Brown’s band. When Robinson is not on set, he's in the recording studio working on his album and music for major motion pictures and television. And check out his cd "Same Rules". https://www.facebook.com/keithrobinsonmedia/info
