Be a man: The mask we wear and gender intelligence

    in Current Events

Join us today 5:30 CST as we explore the topic of gender intelligence, understanding and respecting differences. I am sure many of us have heard the term be a man or man up but when we say that what are we really saying and how is that message received.....

We will consider questions surrounding gender intelligence, gender expectation and challenges that are created as a result of gender confusion.......

    Questions to consider:

Be a man what is that and how do men react when this idea of manhood is challenge?

Could gender intelligence help reduce violence?

Could gender intelligence be the answer to police brutality and hyper-masculinity?

Have you considered that one of the most dangerous things you can say to a boy is be a man?

Did we see gender dynamics being displayed during the police stop of Sandra Bland?

Women Healers of the World~ A Conversation with Holly Bellebuono

In recent years there has been a dramatic emergence of many different natural approaches to healing. Along with this has come a heightened fascination with herbal remedies, especially as they appear in fields such as acupuncture, yoga and aromatherapy. Career - The Black Woman’s Supreme Sacrifice?

    in Religion

During the past one-hundred years women have made social and financial gains that are unprecedented.  This is even truer of Black Women compared to Black Men.  Black Women have far surpassed Black Men as college graduates.   These days, possessing a bachelors degree is deemed to be the first significant step to gaining social and financial gains.  The gains don’t stop there.  Increasingly Black Women are found in prominent positions in business, government, medicine and politics.  But what is the cost?  What are the sacrifices?  Is it all worth it?  Is there a way to have it all?

  • Pan-African Journal: Special Worldwide Radio Broadcast

    in Politics

Listen to this special edition of the Pan-African Journal hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. During the broadcast we will feature our regular PANW reports with dispatches involving developments on the four-year aftermath of the imperialist-engineered war of regime-change in the North African state of Libya; also a Memphis police officer was shot dead yesterday just two weeks after an African American was killed during a traffic stop; a Cincinnati police officer has been indicted for murder after shooting an African American during a routine traffic stop; and a look at the character of police training where they are taught to shoot to kill. In the second hour we continue our focus on Black August, a monthlong tribute to the resistance of African people against slavery, colonialism, neo-colonialism and imperialism. This segment presents a 1968 lecture by Hosea Williams, a leading member of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), who speaks on the Poor People's Campaign of that year. The final hour looks at the contributions of Blanche K. Bruce, a Mississippi politician and US Senator who served during the period of Reconstruction in the late 1870s and early 1880s. Bruce was the first African American to serve a full term in the Senate. He died in Washington, D.C. in 1898 at the age of 57.
