Shocking Story: Learn how an African man was used as a human zoo spectacle

    in Education

Call in to learn how Black Lives have been "caged" for entertainment since the turn of the century.  Bars by any name...are a prison...and a cage. Join host Dr. Sonia Banks, Chair, Manhattan Chapter, NCBW for our Leadersatplay Education Series. Meet an award-winning journalist, Pamela Newkirk, as she reveals a little-known and shameful episode in American history, when an African man was used as a human zoo exhibit—a shocking story of racial prejudice, science, and tragedy in the early years of the twentieth century in the tradition of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Devil in the White City, and Medical Apartheid.  In 1904, Ota Benga, a young Congolese “pygmy”—a person of petite stature—arrived from central Africa and was featured in an anthropology exhibit at the St. Louis World’s Fair. Two years later, the New York Zoological Gardens displayed him in its Monkey House, caging the slight 103-pound, 4-foot 11-inch tall man with an orangutan.

'Feed Your Head w/ Ruthann Amarteifio'

    in Current Events

Omar Mansour (Al-T'bal) is my guest tonight-----
Palestine lays heavy on our hearts and souls and we will be talking of what is happening there right now.  Why does the world community not force the Zionists to unoccupy this land?  Why does the US continue to fund Israel to the tune of at least 3 billion dollars (US) a year, knowing that the money is used to genocide the rightful people of the land?  Thee questions and more will be tackled----
We'll discuss the similarity of the Native Americans to the Palestinians----how greed, power and control has been the same in both instances.
Omar is a percussionist and we'll also speak of his profession!
From the mouth of a Palestinian, comes the real truth!!!

Brady suspension upheld 4 games and LeVeon Bell

    in Sports

I have lived in Tampa, Fl for over 22 years and I am an avid sports fan. I do my research and get all the facts before I give my opinion. My passion is for all sports but the most important one to me is by far football. I have worked for the Tampa Tribune for 3 years, radio broadcasting, and even covered the Arena Football League. I have covered every sport from volleyball to the UFC and I look forward to bringing my years of sports experience to my new radio show. Like the great Herm Edwards said “ You play to win the game, Hello? You play to win the game. You don't play it to just play it. That's the great thing about sports: you play to win, and I don't care if you don't have any wins. You go play to win. When you start telling' me it doesn't matter, then retire. Get out! 'Cause it matters."

    READ MORE:

Sly and the Family Stone was an American band from San Francisco. Active from 1967 to 1983, the band was pivotal in the development of soul, funk, and psychedelic music. Headed by singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist Sly Stone, and containing several of his family members and friends, the band was the first major American rock band to have an "integrated, multi-gender" lineup.

Brothers Sly Stone and singer/guitarist Freddie Stone combined their bands (Sly & the Stoners and Freddie & the Stone Souls) in 1967. Sly and Freddie Stone, trumpeter Cynthia Robinson, drummer Gregg Errico, saxophonist  Jerry Martini, and bassist Larry Graham comprised the original lineup; Sly and Freddie's sister, singer/keyboardist Rose Stone, joined within a year. They recorded five Billboard Hot 100 hits which reached the top 10, and four ground-breaking albums, which greatly influenced the sound of American pop, soul, R&B, funk, and hip hop music. In the preface of his 1998 book For the Record: Sly and the Family Stone: An Oral History, Joel Selvin sums up the importance of Sly and the Family Stone's influence on African American music by stating "there are two typesof black music: black music before Sly Stone, and black music after Sly Stone".

What Has Trump Got That's Making Him So Darn Popular?

    in Self Help

Underreporting of immigration statistics, underreporting of data on the commission of crimes by illegal aliens, non-reporting on how many Mexican citizens are living in the United States, deliberate deception by the media of the situation on our borders...is there any mystery why a candidate who is willing to speak publicly, without political correctness or fear of retribution, has captured the attention of the American public?

While Donald Trump may not be your pick for a Presidential candidate, and his positions on issues may have fluctuated vastly over the past few years, you cannot take away from him the fact that he is out there saying what many of people are feeling.

We’ll look at Trump's take on the issues, his delivery and the opposition being thrown at him from almost every political sector...including his own party.

Reasons Every Entrepreneur Needs to Take Vacation Time

    1. The brain needs extended downtime.

Entrepreneurs are the ones working long and hard, operating on overdrive to develop winning strategy, ensure flawless execution, refine communication and create endless groundbreaking tactics. Thus, some entrepreneurs run the risk of burnout.

To run effectively on all cylinders, the brain needs sufficient downtime.

According to Scientific American, “downtime replenishes the brain’s stores of attention and motivation, encourages productivity and creativity, and is essential to both achieve our highest levels of performance and simply form stable memories in everyday life.”

Taking time off for mindfulness is possibly the greatest gift entrepreneurs can give themselves and their businesses. Researchers have just started exploring the connection between meditation and better physical and psychological health.

A vacation can help entrepreneurs rest their mind to be better able to address and resolve what’s waiting for you back in the office.

With an early exposure to art, music and biology he began taking art courses while self-studying the works of Carl Sagan at age nine. "Traditional work never appealed to me," He began selling bronze sculptures by world class artists online. While he made a good living, Atman felt something was missing in his life. Like his mother, he always had a desire and aptitude and a keen interest in the healing arts. Intuitively, art and health and the cosmos were fused in his mind and he began the exploration of light, particularly the theory of Color and Light Optics and its effects on health.

Omarian Atman fashioned his career from skills derived from his highly talented and very diverse parents. His mother is a Medical Doctor educated at Harvard, and his father is an artist and a musician who attended the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design, obtained a Master's Degree in Art, and performed as a musician on Broadway in the 1980's. For over a decade Omarian has studied electromagnetic therapies and other health modalities including Medical Astrology and Telemetric Healing. His intention was to unlock the psychological, emotional and physical triggers in people's unconscious and conscious awareness that contributed to physical illnesses. Creating a disease free way of health while empowering people to understand that it all comes from within for the miracle of health to take place.

don't use the Postal Service, don't flush your toilet into the sewer system...Oh, and get off the internet, because the U.S. government created that, too.  Are they right?
