The American Folk Art Museum is the premier institution devoted to the creative expressions of self-taught artists, past and present.
Since 1961 the American Folk Art Museum has been shaping the understanding of art by the self-taught through its exhibitions, publications, and educational programs. As a center of scholarship and by showcasing the creativity of individuals whose singular talents have been refined through experience rather than formal artistic training, the museum considers the historical, social, and artistic context of American culture. Its collection includes more than seven thousand artworks dating from the eighteenth century to the present, from compelling portraits and dazzling quilts to powerful works by living self-taught artists in a variety of mediums.

I met Kel back in September of 2014 and it didn't take me long to realize that he was gifted. My sister and I met him on the same day and she noticed it too. He had a mellow, old soul type demeanor, but he's only 19 years old.
One of the reasons I call myself Wonder Woman, is because I'm always wondering about things. So, I wondered what Kel's story was. So, I asked him. In fact, we chopped it up on the very first episode of my radio show. Well, Kel is an entertainer and the last time we talked on the show, he gave us a little bit of his background and told us about an album he recently published on itunes.
He's taken things to the next level and started his own music label. It's called the Chicago Renaissance Music Group. I freakin' love that name!!! Let's see what Kel is up to these days.
Join Restita and Robert Sunday April 19th at 11 a.m. Pacific timeas they welcome Masters Hall of Fame 2015 nominee, Mika'ele (Michael) Armstrong.

" I started my martial arts training in 1982. In 2003 I began training in Eclectic Warrior Arts , A combination of several schools of Wing Chun & Pekiti Tirsia Kali, earning a black sash from Sibak Keith Hibdon in 1998. From 1996 to present I've been training in the art of American Kenpo Bu-jutsu under Professor Ron Bradbury. I currently hold the rank of Godan(5th degree black belt). I have just recently started training in the art of Lua under Kumu Lua Tim Mcguire although have not achieved rank in this system as to date."
This interview is a three-way discussion between the host, Franne McNeal, the author, Dr. Fay Cobb Payton and Dr. Wayne M. Wormley.
Dr. Fay Cobb Payton published a book in 2014 entitled: Leveraging Intersectionality: Seeing and Not Seeing, in which she discussed digital and social inclusion in technology oriented fields. Her work is a reflection of the earlier diversity efforts (from the 80’s and 90’s to the new millennium), to create productive and healthy work environments that naturally attract the best and brightest talent, globally. Here we are in 2015 and we see these efforts have not succeeded, especially in technology oriented/STEM fields.
Guest: Dr. Fay Cobb Payton, Founding Director, MyHealthImpactNetwork, a social network experience that focuses on health disparities and social media technology interventions. @MyHealthImpact provides “voice” for the millennial generation about health, culture and technology innovation topics. www.MyHealthImpactNetwork.org, https://www.linkedin.com/in/drfay, www.twitter.com/MyHealthImpact
