Janice Covington Allison: The life and rights of a transgender woman

    in Politics Progressive

Here on The #SocialSpitballShow, Barbara Dee & Bram Sarkowski strive to air the truth bit by bit on our broadcasts.  The truth is relative to the observer.

For many of us, our struggles are financial, medical, family, etc.  Most of us take our civil liberties for granted.  Many still strive to achieve equality under the law.  Members of the transgender community are fighting a fierce battle for something as simple (should be anyway) as their human rights and their rights as citizens of their country.  In the United States, all men (and definitely women) are created equal and deserve to be treated accordingly.

Our guest for this episode is Janice Covington Allison, who knows all too well the struggles facing the LGBT community.  She is a veteran, an active Democrat, an activist and a recent candidate for Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, breaking new ground for the Equality movement.

Please tune in at 7pm Eastern to hear from Janice as she shares her story and answers any questions you may have.

This is such a necessary and important conversation.  Let's get the conversation going...

    in Family

A show dedicated to "True Life Experiences." "Autism Awareness," with The Life & Motivation of Ms. Allison Lady-Burton Queen, a wife, mother, sister, friend and supporter.

"My name is Allison Burton a wife, mother, coach, mentor, and a mother of 4 beautiful children with our oldest daughter Starr Burton being an autistic child.

A mother can always feel if her child is in pain or unhappy, I noticed that Starr was different around 7months.Starr was not labeled of course she was of school age but we did not let it slow her down or hinder her development.

Braylon Burton, Starrs father and myself through prayer, faith, and her loving grandparents never treated Starr any differently,  we pushed her and worked harder to develop her social, and cognitive skills.Today, Starr Burton no longer needs I.E.P.teachers and works independent in the classroom.  Last year our daughter past her CRCT Test with out assistance and she is now this year preparing to take the Georgia Milestones.

Autism is a range of complex neuro development disorders ranging from mild to severe. Autism not only affects a child but the entire family. Love, patience, faith in God and acceptance but never giving up is what determines how a child will develop and how successful he or she will become, because we are all different!!!"

Overcoming Stress and Addiction With The Gift of Maybe with Allison Carmen

    in Moms and Family

Anxiety disorders affect more than 40 million adults, causing lack of sleep, depression, and even addiction. Former lawyer Allison Carmen was an addict, but her addiction wasn’t to drugs, alcohol, or even gambling; her addiction was to certainty. Every moment, Allison desperately sought to know or predict what would happen next, trapping her in a spiral of anxiety, uncertainty and negativity.

Allison’s new book, The Gift of Maybe, provides the tools needed to embrace uncertainty as an opportunity. It inspires us not just to persevere through life’s challenges, but to alter our mindset and discover more hope, joy, and success as a result.

Join Allison Carmen and me on Tuesday, February 3, 10-11 A.M. CT US, as we discuss how embracing the concept of “Maybe” can reduce the stress and worry in our lives and open the doors to hope and possibility.
