Joyful music with a kick. Jessica Rotter debut and Kris Angelis' critics' choice

    in Music

Florida-raised, LA-based Kris Angelis’ first album, The Left Atrium, was awarded Best Female Album of 2013 by the LA Music Critics Awards.  She has toured with Songs & Whispers, opened for Tyler Hilton and has been invited to join the Extreme Tour in the US to bring music to underserved communities and youth. She has played at the New Orleans House of Blues, made the finals in the Belk Southern Musician competition,  played at Sundance, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, SXSW and NAMM 2016. She has just released her newest project, the Heartbreak Is Contagious EP with songs written with and produced by Morgan Taylor Reid and Alexander Cardinale.  And she joins us this Friday with songs from the new EP, and an old favorite or two.

Jessica Rotter is an LA-based singer  with a unique musical  history – her grandfather wrote songs for musical icons like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. The family talent rubbed off early; Jessica was 4 years old when she started singing. Which may be why her songs and her voice are achingly beautiful and have been heard in movies like Perfect Pitch 1 & 2 and Frozen as well as TV shows and commercials and  in backing vocals and collaborations. The list of artists she has worked with reads like a who's who of the music industry today: Daft Punk, Carole King, Alicia Keys, Sam Smith, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and others. She has released a new album, Plains, following the success of charting #1 on HypeMachine with her mashup of “Stay/Animal “. We were at the lauch party for the album and we ahve the songs - and some of the behinds the scenes stories. Tune in for a chat with a TV star from a Hollywood music family and a blockbuster debut album.

TED CRUZ WHAT YOU DIDNT KNOW

    in Entertainment

Sen. Ted Cruz’s staff and surrogates quietly slipped from around a blue curtain to watch the man they’d worked to elect to the nation’s highest office take the stage to announce it was all over.

Tears welled up in their eyes as some took video of the senator -- their boss -- on their phones.

“From the beginning, I said that I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. Tonight, I'm sorry to say it appears that path has been foreclosed,” Cruz said Tuesday night in Indianapolis. “We gave it everything we've got.”

Several supporters, many of whom had traveled from state to state volunteering for Cruz, yelled “No” and could be heard crying.

The speech capped off what had been a tumultuous few days for the Cruz campaign. Cruz made the decision to suspend his bid for the White House in the wee hours of Tuesday morning after meeting with his advisers, including his wife Heidi all night, according to a source familiar with the senator’s decision-making process. After Cruz’s main rival, Donald Trump, went on morning television and attempted to link the senator’s father to John F. Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald, Cruz walked into what would be his last press conference as a presidential candidate to deliver a clear message about Trump.

‘What I Really Think of Donald Trump’

“I'm going to do something I haven't done for the entire campaign. For those of you all who have traveled with me all across the country, I'm going to tell you what I really think of Donald Trump. This man is a pathological liar. He doesn't know the difference between truth and lies,” Cruz said in Evansville, Indiana, on Tuesday morning.

Karey was devastated and no one could justify the lengthy sentence he was given. He was a non–violent first time offender and yet handed more prison time than some murderers. Karey chose not to feel sorry for himself and vowed to use this time behind bars to lay the ground work in pursuit of his first love, music. He knew he needed to take the worst decision he ever would make and turn it into something positive.
