"Alfred Hitchcock Ruined My Career" says Tippi Hedren

    in Entertainment

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the cult film The Birds, actress Tippi Hedren reveals how director Alfred Hitchcock not only made her a star, but ultimately vindictively ruined her career.
This Q&A, moderated by well-known radio talent Dan McGrath, took place at the Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs, California.
Among Hedren's proudest accomplishments (in addition to her daughter, Academy Award-winning actress Melanie Griffith), is founding The Roar Foundation in 1983 to support abandoned exotic felines at the Shambala Preserve.

Laurent Bouzereau, biographer, Alfred Hitchcock Piece By Piece

    in Movies

Good evening. This is an interview with Alfred Hitchcock biographer Laurent Bouzereau. Please heighten your tension appropriately!

The first-ever illustrated biography of the master of the thriller, Hitchcock, Piece by Piece, coincides with the 30th anniversary of his death and the 50th anniversary of the release of Psycho. Many of the photographs, from Hitchcock’s own archive, have never been published before, and the package includes removable memorabilia, such as letters, memos, and snapshots, which flesh out this portrait of a film icon.
    .
This book includes all of his more than 50 feature films, as well as his eponymous television series. Author Laurent Bouzereau puts this incredible canon into perspective, examining the master’s life thematically: archetypal anti-heroes; complicated women; charming villains; and something Bouzereau calls “the Hitchcock touch”—elements of film that are, quite simply, Hitchcockian.
    .
Director and producer Bouzereau has collaborated with Martin Scorsese, Mel Brooks, Steven Spielberg, and Clint Eastwood—among other Hollywood legends—on more than 60 documentaries about classic films.

Not So Mad Science #HaroldMuhammad 323.927.2913

    in Science

    Hosted By: Harold Muhammad

Harold, an eclectic and voracious reader, began his venture in the world of the written word as a child of 2 years.  Scraps of paper, candy wrappers, dictionary's right through the entire encyclopedia Britannica. Yet Harold was driven to books of the sciences. Physics, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, he met them all with great wonder and fascination. He delved into each discipline as if his very life depended upon understanding its depth.

It was not until the words of The Hon. Elijah Muhammad that the essence and understanding of the sciences began to have true purpose and meaning. He said, "all there is to know is written in a book, read".

Harold began his collegiate pursuit at Hampton Institute; he then forayed to Fairleigh Dickenson University. At FDU the practice of the Social Sciences, public activism, and public speaking became a trusted part of mental fabric.

Harold is the husband to Celestine Muhammad, and the father of 10 extraordinary children, and 8 grandchildren. Harold has the benefit of having the most exceptional and wondrous teachers to whom he owes all that he has learned, will learn and knows to this very day, The Most  Hon. Elijah Muhammad, the Hon. Min. Louis Farrakhan, his Father Alfred Eatman, and his Grandfather  the Late Captain, Harold D. Hook.

TO HELL I MUST GO-Rod Sadler

    in Entertainment

On a cool, spring day in 1897, Alfred Haney left his Williamston, Michigan home to earn a day's wage. He knew his wife's peculiar behavior had become more frequent, and he had planned on her seeing the town doctor, but she assured him she was feeling much better. They would go the following day instead. When he returned home later that day, he discovered a macabre murder so bizarre that it shook the entire community to its core. His mother's severed head was set on the dinner table, adorned with a knife and fork on either side. Lying nearby was the old woman's body, soaked in kerosene and set ablaze. Screaming, Alfred Haney ran from the house in search of the law, and while neighbors tried to extinguish the smoldering, beheaded corpse, Haney's wife, Martha, removed herself to the back yard and began digging wildly with her hands. Shortly after the discovery, a sheriff's deputy arrived, taking Martha into custody and lodging her in the local jail at the village hall. Ingham County Sheriff John Rehle, known as J. J. among his constituents, arrived by train and surveyed the carnage. He and his deputy discovered the murder weapon, an axe, hidden behind some boards under the rear stoop. Rehle organized a Coroner's Inquest that was held inside the house where the old woman's body lay. In an attempt to determine her state of mind at the time of the crime, local doctors interviewed the murderess. She told them she spoke frequently with her own dead mother, and her mother had told her to kill the old woman. Over the next several days, court hearings decided her ultimate fate. A panel of three doctors was commissioned to determine her sanity. In the end, there would be no prosecution. Deemed insane, she was sentenced to the Michigan Home for the Dangerous and Criminally Insane in Ionia. What made Martha Haney snap and behead her mother-in-law? TO HELL I MUST GO: The True Story of Michigan's Lizzie Borden-Rod Sadler
