You don't need a sense of humor to be an activist these days, but it helps. Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom welcomes stand-up comedian and activist Ted Alexandro to the show on Tuesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. A native New Yorker, Ted moonlighted as a comedian while teaching music to grade schoolers during the day. His comedy career took off and he has appeared on all the big late night shows numerous times, made two Comedy Central specials, and a hit CD and DVD. When he's not making people belly laugh at the nation's top comedy clubs, Ted spends time with Occupy Wall Street. From day one at Zuccotti Park, to getting arrested at Duarte Square, to volunteering with Occupy Sandy, Ted is all in with the movement. For more information go to Ted's FB Page or his web site.
Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. Join us this week as we welcome Thundershorts.com into the digital world. What is Thundershorts.com, you ask? Aside from being a brand-spanking-new website for several new high quality comedy short-form series (featuring such talent as Michael Showalter, Lewis Black, Jim Gaffigan, Gabe Delahaye, Dave Attell, Zandy Hartig, Judy Gold, Jim Norton, etc etc!), it might also be the future of television out on the everchanging horizon of modern entertainment. Or not. We talk about these heady issues with our guests: Thundershorts head of development, Michael Pielocik (SnagFilms.com, Onion News Network), renowned New York comedian and creator of the Teacher’s Lounge web series, Ted Alexandro (Louie, Inside Amy Schumer), plus Rabbit Taskmaster and co-creator of Gabe And Max Need Help, Gabe Delahaye (Videogum, McSweeneys, Funny Or Die).
This week Hank and Nash discuss the delightful Swiss Surrealist, Hans Rudolf "H.R" Giger. The dearly departed leaves behind a magnificient legacy, specializing in morbid fantasy, biomechanical bizzarities and a rather macarbe look at the bleak industrialized future, H.R Giger shall stand permanently as an icon of the strange.
On this week's ScreenPicks Movie Show, we review five new films. They include: Divergent, Muppets Most Wanted, Nymphomanic: Volume I, Rob the Mob, and Jodorowsky's Dune.
