On this episode of The VDown with Michael V.. We look at the last month of for two of Kansas City's teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. For both teams it has been a month of up and downs but they both enter October on fire!
The Chiefs enter October with a 2-2 record coming off a win on Monday Night Football in front of a record setting home crowd that set the decibel record for the world's loudest outdoor stadium where Michael V also helped contribute his voice. Sunday, Alex Smith returns to San Francisco for the first time since losing his job to Colin Kapernick and we will discuss that game as well.
The Royals came into October squeezing into the playoffs as a wildcard, just falling a few games short of a division title. They then won a wild, wild card came in extra innings to earn a trip to the ALDS against the Los Angeles Angels. They have since won the first two games in LA, both in extra innings and are looking to sweep the series on Sunday in front of their home crowd in Kansas City.
So join us this Wednesday, October 8th at 5 pm Central Time for a Kansas City sports edition of The VDown with Michael V. We are also available for download on iTunes and www.blogtalkradio.com/vdown.

The topics that they will be talking about is tomorrow night's Packers-Seahawks game, the NFL's policies on suspensions, the big money contracts that were given to Andy Dalton, Alex Smith, and J.J. Watt, and finally one team that will surprise us and one team that will disappoint us this season.
WillisTheWall, genius poster from 49erswebzone.com breaks down Alex Smith and his greatness and goes into detail why Alex Smith is better than Tom Brady.
In a game that I think could have huge playoff implications, the Titans' defense stepped up in a major way along with the signing of kicker Ryan Succop. Jason McCourty was the one cornerback I had no questions about coming into the season, and he made my feelings justified with his play today. McCourty had two interceptions on the day as well as a hit that caused a third thrown by Alex Smith. Jake Locker also had a solid day in general outside of taking a few more sacks than I'd like to see. I'll break down the game with the Red Light Sports Network's Chiefs show host, Ben Holzhueter.
Everyone is getting paid this week in Sports. Kevin Durant and JJ watt made 400 Million combined. Alex Smith gets his extension. Wes Welker likes to party and its costing him 4 Games this time.

Dr Sepi Zandi of Zandi Chiropractic joins us with RL Smith - President of Flatirons Running - to discuss how having the chiropractic office located in the running store has been beneficial for both businesses.
Flatirons Running is a full-service specialty running store located in the Table Mesa Shopping Center of one of the nations most influential running communities, Boulder, CO. The business began its inception in 2009 being called In-Step. Family-owned by RL Smith and Tricia Vieth, In-Step offered a unique and personalized experience for the runner, focusing on the world famous custom insoles built by RL. RL has become known as the Foot Whisperer to many of his clientele with his impeccable ability to diagnose foot issues and resolve aches and pains with his ‘built on location’ custom insoles, tagged with years of experience in the running and cycling arena.
In 2014, RL and Tricia were approached by Henry and Suzanne Guzman with an offer that could only extend the services to our community. With years of experience as the buyer for another running store in town, Henry came to the table with connections in the industry, extensive experience in the running world as both an athlete and a coach and a knack for knowing what the runner needs and wants which has since outfitted the newly rebranded store, now known as Flatirons Running, to be a true full-service running store.
The combination of a full line of footwear, apparel, accessories, hydration and nutritionals, along with the custom insoles by RL, this is a store that you must visit to find exactly what you need to either get started, stay on track and stay healthy as a runner/walker/hiker!
On Friday evening, March 21, 2014, Alejandro “Alex” Nieto, 28 years old, was shot at over fourteen times and killed by the San Francisco Police Department, on Bernal Hill Park, without justification. We speak to Adriana Camarena, attorney, writer, and resident of the Mission District of San Francisco since 2008, about the altar Alex's mother and others created to honor him as a part of the 15th Annual Dia de los Muertos at Somarts in San Francisco. It is up through Nov. 8.
There is a special event in Bernal Heights today, Oct. 21, on the seven month anniversary of Alex's killing: http://justice4alexnieto.org/alex-story/ Listen in for the details. Since arriving in the Mission, Adriana began collecting tales of borders, line-crossings, and overlapping identities told by residents to provide a layered picture of this traditionally working class immigrant neighborhood in California. Two of her published Mission essays are “The Geography of the Unseen” in Rebecca Solnit, INFINITE CITY: A San Francisco Atlas, UC Press, (2010); and “Street Food” in “n+1” literary magazine, (Summer, 2012).
