Listen to this entertaining and informative interview by host Michael Harris with guest artist Aimee Shattuck. Aimee is inspired by beauty and creating beauty. There is nothing more thrilling to her than being able to create images that she finds to be a rendering of what Aimee finds beautiful. Much of her inspiration comes from burlesque, fashion, and erogenous individuals. Aimee is a yoga teacher by profession so using the body as a form of expression is something she has always appreciated, and this comes through in her art. She use postures, colors, fashionable accessories, and exaggerated facial expressions to convey emotion in her art pieces.

First up, we’ll be chatting with Aimee Gilbreath from FoundAnimals.ORG about some phenomenal projects her organization is working on to help lost animals get reunited with their families and to find homes for pets that need families. They've had some great successes and anyone who loves animals will be interested in hearing all about this. You might remember that Aimee was set to be on our show a couple weeks ago, but had some last minute scheduling problems. We’re super happy she can make it today. Then after our halftime break, Zahra Nealy from the Pasadena Humane Society has some terrific news about fun animal events that her organization has planned.

I've never read Frankenstein. And honestly, I never wanted to. But then I found "This Monstrous Heart" by Aimee Baker. By the time she finished weaving in and out of three narratives in the creative nonfiction essay, I not only wanted to read Mary Shelley's legendary tome and every autobiography about her messy life, I wanted to devour anything Baker wrote, including her grocery lists and text messages.
On February 8, 2015, Aimee will join me on my Behind the Prose Radio Show to discuss her writing life and craft. Make sure you read "This Monstrous Heart" which ran in the December 2014 issue of New Delta Review and tune into the show on Sunday at 6 PM EST. Aimee will take your questions on the air!
Aimee Baker is an adjunct instructor in English for Clinton Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh, both located in rural, upstate New York. She holds an MFA in Fiction from Arizona State University. She is currently working on a poetry project about missing women in the United States as well as a series of essays about her brother's struggle with mental illness. Her work appears in journals such as The Southern Review, Gulf Coast, and The Massachusetts Review.
