Tonight on The Gist of Freedom Join Historian Yul Anderson. He will explain the State of Black Studies and his statement below.
"Black Studies program throughout American have been taken over by others from the Diaspora community such that African American studies becomes Diaspora study programs. Leadership of Black/Afro-American studies programs have morphed and lost interest in the origination of such programs and have now been commingled with Latin American Study, Caribbean studies, Haitian Studies, to the point that there is no longer a distinctive core of Black or African American study programs in America. This has resulted in a tug of war of funding and resentment amongst African American Scholars who feel their distinctive turf has been invaded, as a result less funding for Black or African American studies programs exist.
The Global media, while seeing the Africans influence and power in American as a result of Presidents Obama's African Summit now place more emphasis on African images rather than African American images, the so called "New Black'. Traditional HBCU's while relatively less expensive than traditional main stream white liberal colleges have become much more favorable as the lack of qualified Black African American Scholars are not able to fill the teaching vacancies, as a result HBCU's become much more inviting to the diaspora communities which in turn morph HSBCU's into a more international college, taking on more international issues with substantive professors from the international community.

On tonight's show host Pamela Marie Edmunds will be interviewing Author Lyn Ragan. They will be discussing Lyn's book "We Need to Talk; Living with the Afterlife." This is one of several books about Lyn's experiences with her finance' Chip after his death.
More About Lyn Ragan:
Lyn Ragan knew at the age of fourteen she would write a book one day. She subscribed to True Crime and True Detective, reading each edition faithfully while plotting her fiction novel she never wrote. Twenty-five years later, she met the love of her life never thinking she’d be involved in a real-life crime. After her fiancé’s murder, she followed his guidance by way of ADC’s, (After Death Communications). From the other side, Chip insisted she write their story. Despite her struggles with grief and added defiance, she reluctantly gave in. Following Chip’s communications, she penned their first book, Wake Me Up! Love and The Afterlife.
Years later, Lyn was moved to write again. Encouraged to share their deepest connections, she intuitively used his words as inspiration and titled their second book, We Need To Talk: Living With The Afterlife. While writing her novels, Lyn was introduced to the spiritual arts of energy work. She pursued an intense meditation practice and went on to study Reiki Healing, Auric Energies, and Chakra Balancing. She later used her studies to become a professional Aura Photographer, an Ordained Minister, a Children’s Book author, and a publisher. Lyn is excited to bring her talents together in order to touch the lives of others with Chip’s communications from the Afterlife. She lives in Atlanta with her fur-kids, Scooby and Chipper. Lyn can be found online at www.LynRagan.com, and on Facebook at WeNeedToTalkBook, or WakeMeUpBook.

This week we are hosting a debate on the subject of No-Kill vs Pro-Kill in regards to Sasquatch. We all know that before any conservation can begin, before any studies on them can start, Sasquatch needs to be scientifically acknowledged first. So does a specimen need to be culled in order for the species to be scientifically accepted?
On the pro side of the debate our guests will be Brian Brown and Cliff Griffin of NAWAC or the North American Wood Ape Conservancy. NAWAC is well known for their research location dubbed Area X and the somewhat controversial manner in which they plan to acquire a type specimen for scientific acceptance and subsequent conservation. Brian Brown is an outdoorsman, naturalist, and researcher. He is also the creator of two renowned Bigfoot podcasts, The Bigfoot Show and the Bigfoot Information Project. Cliff Griffin is an outdoorsman, naturalist, and in the medical industry.
On the no-kill side of the debate our guests will be Corey J. Alarie and Jason Aiken. Corey has been an experienced outdoorsman for 30 years and a Sasquatch researcher for 10 years as both a member of NESRA (Northeast Sasquatch Research Association) and AIBR (Alliance of Independent Bigfoot Research). Jason is a lifelong wildlife enthusiast and an independent Sasquatch researcher.
Our goal is to present a civil and structured debate where the most relevant, logical, and intelligent points can be made by both advocacies. We want the listeners to be able to listen to thoughtful and educated points from both sides and be able to contemplate the issues in a reasonable manner. We welcome all participation so if you want to propose questions please feel free to PM us on Facebook, ask questions in the chat room, or call in after the 1st hour to present your questions. The phone number is (646) 652-2569.

Michelle “Mickey Hall hails from Cape Cod Massachusetts but was born in Queens, NY. Adopted to a family from the West Indies, and the only child, Mickey grew up always surrounded by questions of not only “who she was” but also “why she was different?” While adapting to the quietness of Cape Cod from the streets of New York, she struggled every day to understand the feelings that were surfacing when she looked at other women.
It wasn't until she entered college, which she found herself surround by other women who felt the same, that she broke out of her shyness and grew into the strong, proud Lesbian she is today. Surviving unimaginable abuse at the hands of family members and even the label of the “Black Sheep” of the family to not having contact with family for over 30 years, Mickey has come full circle and has been having a wonderful time reconnecting with family members.
On tonight's show host Pamela Marie Edmunds will be interviewing Author Hilary Jamron. They will be discussing Hilary's book "Surrealistic Trials; Surving Life After Death." What happened to HIlary? What did she learn? What can we learn from her experience?
More About Hilary Jamron;
Hilary Jamron “died” from a drug overdose at the age of eighteen and journeyed to the so-called Other Side. Defying all odds, a grim prognosis, and a lengthy coma, she managed not only to survive but also to maintain conscious contact with both her higher self and her guardian angel. Despite having sustained a permanent brain injury, she graduated college with a B.S. in community social psychology at Johnston Center for Integrative Studies, one of the University of Redlands' Centers of Distinction. After that, she established a successful career in the mental health field, working in substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and—for the past twenty years—with schizophrenics.
Her writing has been published in both national and international educational and professional publications through the University of Washington, the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the Public Health Agency of Canada. The impact of her hepatitis C exacerbated Hilary’s brain damage and ultimately forced her to give up her career. Her health issues progressed and now limit her physical mobility as well as cognitive functioning, yet she teaches by example that we must never give up.
What Is The Best Cardio Workout For Burning Off Fat?
For quite a while it has been accepted that low-intensity cardio was the best for burning fat. According to studies this method burned the calories primarily from fat. This has recently been disproved, as a new and exciting way to perform cardio has arisen.
The best cardio for burning off that stubborn fat will have you in the gym shorter than you'd expect. This cardio is called HIIT-High Intensity Interval Training. The concept is pretty simple.
You transition from low-moderate intensity intervals to very high intensity intervals. If you judge by the readout on the given exercise machine, you might assume that going at a low intensity for 30-45 minutes would burn more calories than 15 minutes OR LESS utilizing HIIT. This is not true, however, as many of the calories you burn come after you leave the gym (When performing HIIT).
15 minutes may seem to good to be true to lose weight, but it is not. However, you must keep in mind this is no walk in the park. This is very demanding, but extremely rewarding and time-saving. HIIT will support your metabolism so that you are burning calories later in the day. You will burn fat if calories out exceed calories in, and you will expend more calories by choosing HIIT.
HIIT can be performed on many different exercise machines, as well as outside or on the track. In all situations, make sure to warm up for about 3-5 minutes. Once you are ready to go, you will begin your intervals.
