Tonight and the rest of this week we are going to discuss Cleavers NOTES ON NATIVE SON.  In this we will discuss the theory of self hate and displaced love for those who are your enemy and enemy to the thought of a life of liberation for Black People. "After reading a couple of James Baldwin's books, I began experiencing that continuous delight one feels upon discovering a fascinating, brilliant talent on the scene, a talent capable of penetrating so profoundly into one's own little world that one knows oneself to have unalterably changed and liberated from the frustrating grasp of whatever Devils happen to process one.  Being a Negro, I have found this to be a rare and infrequent experience, for few of my black brothers and sisters her in America have achieved the power, which James Baldwin calls his revenge, which outlast kingdoms:  the power of doing whatever cats like Baldwin do when combining the alphabet with the with the volatile elements of his soul.  (And, like it or not, a black man, unless he has become irretrievably "white-minded, " responds with additional dimension of his being to the articulated experience of another black---in spite of the universality of human experience.)
I as I imagine many others did and still do, lusted for any-thing that Baldwin had written.  It would have been a gas for me to sit on a pillow beneath the womb of Baldwin's  typewriter and catch each newborn page as it entered this world of ours.  I was delighted that Baldwin, with those great big eyes of his, which one thought to be fixedly focused on the microcosm, could also pierce the microcosm. And although he was so full of sound, he was not noisy writer like Ralph Ellison.  He placed so much of my own experience, which I thought I had understood, into new perspective."  SOUL ON ICE by Elderidge Cleave

Tonight we will discuss the exact meaning of what it is that the black masses are seeking in their attempt at arena sports.  Could our behavior be linked to the violent nature in which Malcolm and our other leaders died have awakened a  primeval stance in our minds? As a people have we lost the ability to see humanity has gone far astray because we have not really achieved justice for our fallen? Have we really turned a blind eye to the Murder of our Beloved leader? “In America, we give maximum  expression to our blood lust in the mass spectator sport of boxing. Some of us are Roman enough go admit our need of the sport.  Others pretend  to look the other way.  but when a heavyweight champion fight rolls around, the nation takes a moral holiday and we are all turned in some of us peeping out of the corner of our eye at the square jungle and the animal test of brute power unfolding there.

Every institution  in America is tainted by the mystique of race, and the question of masculinity is confused by the presence of both a white man and a black man here.  One was  the master and the other was the slave until a moment ago when they both were declared to be equal men; which leaves American men literally without a unitary, nationally viable self-image.  Whatever dim vision of masculinity they have is a rough and ready, savage mishmash of violence and sexuality, and dichotomized exercise and worship of physical force/ submission to and fear of physical force which is only one aspect of the broken down relationship between mean and women in America.  This is an era when the models of manhood  and womanhood have been blasted to dust by social upheaval, and the most alienated males and females at the bottom of society move out of their place and bid for their right to be man and woman on an equal basis with the former masters and mistresses." SOUL ON ICE,  Eldridge Cleaver.

Tonight's show we will start on the ideals of a hero, for years the death of Malcolm X was covered up with many conspiracy theories.  We will discuss one of them as seen through the eyes of Eldridge Cleaver.  In:  PART TWO THE BLOOD OF THE BEAST "LAZARUS, COME FORTH" The Blood Lust.
"The boxing ring is the ultimate focus of masculinity in America, the two-fisted testing ground of manhood, and the heavyweight champion, as a symbol, is the real Mr. America.  In a culture that secretly subscribes to the piratical ethic of "every man for himself"------ the social Darwinism of "survival of the fittest " being far from dead, manifesting itself in our rat race political system of competing parties, in a dog eat dog economic system of profit and loss, and our adversary system of justice wherein truth is secondary to the skill of connections of the advocate------ the logical culmination ethic , on a person to person level, is that the weak are seen as the natural just prey of the strong.  But since the dark principle violates our democratic ideals and professions, we force it underground, out of a perverse national modesty that reveals us as a nation of peep freaks who prefer the bikini to the naked body, the white lie to the black truth". I am reading this book when my High School Class is in a class of reading, to let my class know that there is good and evil in all things. Life is not always just about black and white, friends and foes, there is always betrayal in between. As Bob Marley said "Yor worst enemy could be your best friend and your best enemy. Some will eat and drink with you then behind them suss upon you.

The murder of Malcolm X, the exile of Robert F. Williams, who was forced the flee to Cuba with the combined terrors of the FBI and the minions of Southern justice snapping at his heels, and the exile of the late W.E.G.  Du Bois, who, in the sunset of a valiant life, made three symbolic gestures as a final legacy to his people (renouncing his American citizenship, ‘returning’ to Africa to become a citizen of Ghana, and cursing capitalism while extolling communism as the hope of the future) —these three events on the one hand, and on the other hand the award of a Nobel Prize to Martin Luther King and the inflation of the image to that of an international hero, bear witness to  the historical fact that the only Negro American allowed to attain national or international fame have been the puppets and lakers of the white power structure—and entertainers and athletes….

It is against the back ground of the traditional role of the Negro entertainer and athlete in racial crisis and the rebellion against that tradition — that the Muhammad  Ali— Floyd Patterson fight for the heavyweight championship must be viewed."  Soul On Ice by Eldridge Cleaver

"Malcolm X knew that he needed a prominent ally to help him launch a new organization once his permanent suspension became public.   It so happened that Cassius Clay, scheduled to fight Sonny Liston  for the heavyweight championship of the world, was a good friend of Malcolm X, one of the few people Malcolm X ever invited to this house….." JUdas Factor Karl Evanzz

"The broad support for Muhammed Ali among negroes had nothing to do with the black Muslims’  racist ideology.  Even the followers of the late beloved Malcolm X, many of whom despise Muhammad Ali for the scurvy remarks he made about the fallen Malcolm….." Soul On Ice

Orishas, Love and Sex in West Africa & Parliament with Phyllis C & Angie B.

    in Spirituality

First Guest.....Marsha Scarbrough, author of Honey in the River:  Shadow, Sex and West African Spirituality discusses with us tonight her personal journey and discovery of the Orishas, Goddess Archetypes of West Africa, all while under the influence of her babalawo, or Yoruban lover who acted as her spiritual leader.  We'll talk about her personal soap opera and the growth she gleaned from that tangled relationship, as well as discuss what is Ifa and Ifa voodoo, who are the feminine orishas, the trickster and  how Ifa informs our contemporary lives.  This is a very heartfelt and candid look at how important it is to look at our own shadow, and in this case, how Marsha was willing to lie and betray other women in order to feel loved.  How she, and many women, are in denial about being in abusive relationships and willingly take part in self-sabotaging behavior and allow themselves to be exploited by others in positions of power.

Second Guests.....Phyllis Currott and Angie Buchanan, prominent Pagan movers and shakers involved with planning the Council for the Parliament of World Religions will give us a behind the scenes look at this incredible inter-faith gathering that happened in October 2015 in Salt Lake City, UT, and we'll hear what's ahead for the next Parliament.

"Tonight we will continue with Soul on Ice by Eldridge Cleaver on the “INITIAL REACTION ON THE ASSASSINATION OF MALCOLM X  and what it did to the Black Community.  “In February 16, Malcolm X told James Shabazz, another aid (not to be confused with James 3X Shabazz, regional minister of the New York and Newark mosques), the the incident at the ball room made him think that some one might try to kill him before or during the next OAAU rally, which was scheduled for February the 21.  “I have the names of five Black Muslims who have been assigned to kill me,” he told Shabazz. “I will announce them at the meeting.

Two days later , on February the 18 , Malcolm X was evicted form his home in Elmhurst. That same morning a CIA agent in Richard Helmes’s office issued a memorandum with a reference number of “CSC1-316/01196-64,” and the subject matter of “EGYPTIAN FUNDING OF MALCOLM X.”  The term “CSCI” IS AN ABBREVIATION FOR CLANDESTINE SERVICES COUNTER INTELLIGENCE." Judas Factor

"The Black Muslim movement was destroyed the moment Elijah cracked the whip over Malcolm 's head, because it was not the Black Muslim movement itself that was so irritability appealing to the true believers. It was the awaking into self-conscienceless of twenty million Negroes which was compelling.  Malcolm X articulated their aspirations better than any other man of our time. When he spoke under the banner of Elijah Muhammad he was irresistible.  If he had become a Quaker, a Catholic, or Seven-Day Adventist, or a Sammy Davis-Style Jew, and if he had continued to give voice to the mute ambitions in the black man's soul, his message still would have been triumphant: because what was great was not Malcolm X but the truth he uttered.  The truth which Malcolm uttered had vanquished the whole passel ... NFL Thanksgiving Day preview when will you fit your turkey dinner in?

    in Sports

The NFL and Thanksgiving have become a tradition. Families gather to give thanks, enjoy a turkey dinner, and in many households, watch NFL football. The Detroit Lions always host the early game, and the Dallas Cowboys always host the afternoon game, and in 2006 the NFL added a primetime game. This game has no specified host team and rotates from year to year. The primetime game this year has the Chicago Bears visiting the Green Bay Packers.

The Philadelphia Eagles will visit Detroit, with a 12:30 PM ET kickoff. The Detroit Lions are 35-38-2 on Thanksgiving, and the Eagles have never lost on Thanksgiving, boosting a 6-0 record. Last year, the Eagles stuffed the Cowboys 33-10.  Both teams are struggling this year and enter the game with losing records. The Lions basically need a miracle to make the playoffs. The Eagles are only one game behind the New York Giants for first place, in the NFC East.

The undefeated Carolina Panthers visit the Cowboys who have Tony Romo back. Even at 3-7, the Cowboys still have hopes of making the playoffs only being two games behind the New York Giants. Carolina continues to win games, and are etching closer to locking up home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

The Chicago Bears visit Lambeau Field to play the Green Bay Packers, in the prime time game. The Packers need to win to maintain first place, in the NFC North. The Bears have quietly improved to 4-6 and could be mentioned in the playoff race with a win.
