Kwanzaa Celebration and Cooking Healthy African-American Soul Food

    in Lifestyle

Kwanzaa is a Pan African Holiday that emphasizes a time of remembrance and recommitment to the global African community and to our ancestors. It creates the climate to sustain reflections regarding the moral compass, vast influence, and extensive reach with regard to the meaning of being African in this world.  Within the climate of this day and time it is critical that we explore the meaning of who we are, who we were, the legacies that were passed down, and the legacies that we are leaving for the following generations.

Plus, some special words from the late, great Maya Angelou on the significance of Kwanzaa and why it is so important to the African-American experience.

Also, healthy choices in cooking traditional African-American soul food. How to incorporate a healthy new start to an old tradition in this New Year.

  • Episode 260: Best of Offshore Balancing the Indian Ocean

    in Military

What is real, and what is a mirage? Can something be a cost effective strategic option, or a fool's errand?
As outlined by our guests U.S. Naval War College Associate Professors James R. Holmes and Toshi Yoshihara in their latest work in the periodical Asian Security: An Ocean Too Far: Offshore Balancing in the Indian Ocean; the United States is beset by war weariness after over a decade of war and a half century plus of global commitments.

It is seductive to think of retiring from continental Eurasia, but if history calls us back - returning in times of systemic conflict would be problematic – even in the relatively accessible rimlands of Western Europe and East Asia.

In a part of the world with the planet's largest democracy - offshore balancing is close to impossible in the Indian Ocean.
As it turns out, offshore balancing in the Indian Ocean may be no balancing at all.

  • Sacred Sunday~Acts 27/St. Paul Sets Sail with a Wing and A Prayer

    in Paranormal

Welcome Church! We are here every Sunday to read the Bible, tell personal stories and pray together because when two or more are gathered.....In a non-judgemental down to earth format. God bless you every one!

Acts Chapter 27~Paul sets sails for Rome. Bon voyage!

He is put on a ship with other prisoners headed for Italy, but the journey isn't quick or easy. When the ship docks in Crete for a bit, Paul warns them not to go onto the island. For some odd reason, the soldiers and sailors don't listen to the criminal in their midst.

Once they set sail the winds pick up and things are not looking good. It's a northeaster and it rocks the ship around for days. Food and supplies run short. Everyone thinks they're gonna die.

Um, I told you so, Paul says. He explains that he saw a vision all about this. The good news is they're all gonna make it in one piece to Rome. The bad news is the ship is not. After fourteen days of storm and terror, the sailors think they might be near land, so some of them lower boats to escape the ship. As the sun is coming up, Paul offers everyone food. Apparently no one has eaten for fourteen days because they've been busy freaking out at sea. He breaks bread and gives thanks to God and then passes it out to everyone. Thanks so much to www.shmoop.com

The Helios Biblios (book of the Sun) Hour /Sedes Sacrorum

    in Current Events

Sedes Sacrorum (Latin Sedes for seat/see, Sacrorum for holy) otherwise known as Santa Sede and the "SS" also known in English as "Holy See" refers to the legal apparatus as a whole by which the Roman Catholic Pope and its Curia of Bishops claim historical recognition as a sovereign entity with superior legal rights.

The Catholic Church uses two legal personalities with which to conduct its international affairs: the first is as an International State known as the Vatican City State, to which the Pope is the Head of Government. The second is as the supreme legal personality above all other legal personalities by which all property and "creatures" are subjects.

The Imperial State religion of Christianity, commonly known as "Christianity" was founded by Emperor Constantine I in 326 following the 1st Council of Nicaea (325). While technically extinct for nearly 800 years, the Christian Church was restored in the election of a leader consistent with the original doctrine and requirements from the time of Constantine in the election of Pope Francis on March 14th 2013.The official and motto was ordered to replace the previous motto of S·P·Q·R (which in Latin meant SENATUS POPULUS QUO REGNUM or “(The) Senate (of the) People Through Which (is) Rule”) on all official legion standards, buildings, documents and monuments. The order was largely ignore by the people in "Old" Rome and North Africa. The official standard of I·N·R·I is also where the saying "New Rome" originates to distinguish Constantinople from Rome. The word Nazi/Nasi dates back to the time of the Sanhedrin councils of Palestine first formed by the Romans in the 1st Century BCE. To members of modern Judaism.
