Football has been played! With a week of preseason games in the books, NFL teams are going to start to take shape. We will discuss some of the more prominent injuries that may effect the regular season for certain teams.
Then, we will begin our AFC and NFC Northern Divisional previews. In the AFC, can the Bengals finally take the next step and win at least a playoff game? Do the Steelers have enough on the defensive side of the ball to not put all the pressure on the talented offense? Can the Ravens fly under the radar again and make another run in the playoffs? Is there a light at the end of the Cleveland tunnel?
At 9:30, we will be joined by friend of the show, John Laub, to discuss the fantasy relevance of these two divisions. Can the Steelers have a top 3 player at all 3 major positions? Which sleepers should you be looking for? We will answer those, plus other questions.
We will close the show with the NFC North preview. Are the Packers the only team that can win this division? Can Teddy Bridgewater be the conductor of the hype train surrounding the Vikings? Can the Lions sneak their way into the playoffs again? Are the Bears primed for another top 10 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft?
Want to discuss any of these teams or your own team? We are taking calls tonight at 760-283-0846.
Tonight on Open Mike, I welcome guest Karen Vankat to talk about the shaky NFC East. The Eagles and Redskins both lost on Sunday, while Dallas won. Are the Giants still the team to beat in this division, or does Dallas have a shot? Also, we will talk about the Jets debacle against the Houtson Texans, and the impact on both teams. Check us out at 5:30.
This wednesday marks another thrilling episode of Ashes in the Fall! Join Brooks, Charles, and Joma as they discuss the AFC South as well as the NFC North. How good will the Colts be? Can the Vikings pose an actual threat to the Green Bay Packers. We will discuss this and more! Show begins at 7pm EST.
The Green Bay Packers regained first place, in the NFC North, by defeating the Minnesota Vikings 30-13. Both teams have 7-3 records, but with the win the Packers own the head to head tiebreaker. The victory snaps a three game losing streak for the Packers, and ended the Vikings five game winning streak. After scoring 17 combined first half points during the last three games, the Packers held a 16-6 halftime advantage. Mason Crosby kicked two more second half field goals, giving him five for the day. Aaron Rodgers hit James Jones for a 27-yard touchdown late in the third quarter to give the Packers a 14 point lead. On the ensuing drive, the Vikings drove into Packers territory but Adrian Peterson fumbled after a 10 yard run.
The Packers defense domintaed the Vikings offensive line by applying constant pressure to Teddy Bridgewater. Officially, they recorded six sacks, but Bridgewater had to throw a number of balls away because of the pressure. Peterson entered the game as the NFL's leadng rusher, and averaged 21.7 attempts per game. He was held to 45 yards on 13 carries.
Eddie Lacy rushed 22 times for 100 yards, marking his first 100 yard performance of the year. Lacy ran with power, and finished his runs all day. With the lead, the Packers leaned on Lacy to grind out tough yards and take time off the clock. On the stat sheet, Rodgers was not spectacular; 16-34 for 212 yards with two touchdowns. His first touchdown was aided by a 50-yard pass interference play on a third and fifteen with 1:53 remaining, in the first half. Back to back penalties allowed the Packers to finish the drive with the touchdown. On a third and nine, Rodgers found Richard Rodgers for a touchdown that was nullified because of offsetting penalties. David Bakhtiari was called for holding, and Linval Jospeh was flagged for roughing the passer so the Packers were not backed up 10 yards. Anthony Barr was called for illegal contact on the next play.
We meet again for another Gameday Sunday and NFC North Battle.
The Vikings hold the number one spot as they hit up Lambaeu Field to continue their upward swing against the Green By Packers. It seems the Packers have been exposed and have fallen from grace, but can they bounce back and reclaim their spot in this division.
The Chicago Bears are showing a glimpse of hope, but is it too little too late. We will share our thoughts on their future this season and today's match-up against the Denver Broncos.
Ah yes the Detroit Lions, normally a team with only 2 wins would be considered done for the season, and though there is NO CHANCE this team will see the post season, it's pretty awesome seeing the recent shift changes light a fire in that camp. I do see another win acoming.
Also, we welcome former Rich Central H.S. QB stand out Mr. Kevin Carter. Mr. Carter was the first Afican American quarterback in Rich Central's history and still holds a passer rating of 3000. He will give us his thoughts on today's games and each NFC North starting QB.
So tune-in today at 10am CST for some fun, laughs and predictions from some true die-hard fan bloggers!
