Spare the rod, spoil the child. I'd like to be your friend. Never say, "no" you'll squelch the child's inner confidence. Which of these philosophies of child-rearing do you endorse? Most of us were raised under some variation of the above. And, as we know from raising our own children, the theories and recommendations on how to raise a well-balanced, "successful," self-confident, capable and kind child are ever-changing and ever-challenging. Today, on "I'm Just Sayin'" I will be joined by Dr. M. Mark McKee, Psyd, who specializes in Adolescent and Child Behavior. Have a question about a specific situation you're dealing with your teen right now? Call (646) 721-9754 between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. tomorrow morning to ask Dr. McKee a question.
Tune in! You might like what you hear.
Have you heard of the COOL CRITICS? We cover the spectrum and universe of conversation. Recently, the discipline, (SPANKING) given to his son, by Adrian Peterson, has brought attention to people spanking their kids. A lot of the older populus, has been spanked, from bush limbs, to tree branches, brushes, belts, hands, iron cords, (not chords, I don't think there is any harmony from an iron CHORD/CORD) The attention that the NFL has placed on this starting with the Ray Rice syndrome, has everyone chiming in - why should THE COOL CRITICS be any different???? 347-205-9366 - voice your opinion!!!

But I felt sorry for them, and I did not destroy them; I did not exterminate them in the wilderness. I said to their sons in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the regulations of your forefathers or keep their judgments or defile yourselves with their disgusting idols. I am Jehovah your God. Walk in my statutes, and keep my judicial decisions, and carry them out and sanctify my sabbaths, and they will serve as a sign between me and you for you to know that I am Jehovah your God.’ But the sons began to rebel against me. They did not walk in my statutes, and they did not observe and carry out my judicial decisions, which if a man follows them, he will have life by them. My sabbaths they profaned. So I promised to pour out my rage on them and to unleash my anger against them fully in the wilderness. But I refrained and acted for the sake of my own name, so that it should not be profaned before the nations, in whose sight I brought them out. Also, I swore to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them among the lands, because they did not carry out my judicial decisions and they rejected my statutes, they profaned my sabbaths, and they followed after the disgusting idols of their forefathers. I also allowed them to follow regulations that were not good and judicial decisions by which they could not have life. I let them become defiled by their own sacrifices—when they made every firstborn child pass through the fire—in order to make them desolate, so that they would know that I am Jehovah.

Preparing with a child or family member with special needs is not a cut and dry situation, how you prepare is directly linked to the needs of the family member you are preparing with. Family members that are elderly, disabled or have autism all require different needs on a daily basis.
Patrick of SurvivalatHome.com was good enough to be on the show this week with Lisa and I, he has a daughter Maggi that has special needs and gives us some incite about what life is like Preparing with a special needs child.
Patrick recently wrote an article titled “How to Be Prepared with a Special Needs Child” that also has some good information.
