Co-Dependency and Addictions with Dr. Maurie Pressman

    in Self Help

Author, Medical Director and Founder of the Pressman Center for Mind/Body Wellness, Clinical Professor Emeritus at Temple Medical School in Psychiatry and Chairman Emeritus of the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Dr. Maurie Pressman will be speaking on this re-broadcast show. His statement on Co-Dependency is this:

"Co-dependency or addiction are outgrowths of the way we work as personalities, and the "cure" arises from knowing the self and calling upon the magnificent power of the soul-within. That is why it is so good and so important to know one’s Self. The next thing is that there are transactions between people under all circumstances, and a dynamic equilibrium is established and maintained, unless some crisis comes along. In the case of co-dependency we mean that there is a transaction between partners in which one personality is adjusted to the other – and maintains the pattern of the other for good or bad. In the case of addiction it is for the not-so-good as far as society is concerned, for it leads to a debilitation on the part of the addict both by the addicting drug and  the withering of personal strength by being overly supported by the sponsor."

Too Frequent, Word is OUT, No Kind of Mother's Day- Recovery Now with Kim Justus

    in Radio

My guest is Debra Pyka, a mother who is trying to bring awareness to not only prevent suicide, but to warn of the dangers of sports and head trauma to our youth. She will be discussing her son Joseph's life story, playing sports, CTE which led to years of depression and ultimately, his suicide. Joseph's brother Seth will join us, since they played sports all through their childhood together. She has tried to contact politicians, White House and Michelle Obama, with no one concerned or responding to her. She also wants to shed light on the responsibility of the NFL with the research started 20 years ago, to warn all parents of the dangers of concussions/head trauma and future effects, which the NFL denied for many years. More young people are dying from sports related injuries than ever. sportslegacy.org/research/legacy-donors/joseph-chernach  Debbie was one of the Mom's who among many, including Kimberly Archie, went to the Capital last month during Brain Injury Awareness Month 2016.

This show is a gathering place for anyone seeking recovery from the challenges of life on life's terms. I introduce topics, and survivor's share their experience, strength and hope. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery.

This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me."

We focus on the four A's of Recovery...Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation. This is a place for survivor's striving to become thrivers.  :)

Front portion of show is featured guest, second part of the show is Open Mic and some great Indy Music, sure to inspire!

The Dr. Pat Show-Talk Radio to Thrive !

    in Spirituality

The Dr. Pat Show: Talk Radio to Thrive By!: Recovery and Yoga for Women with Katherine Arati Maas. Katherine talks about her own journey in recovery from alcohol, food and emotional instability. She also discusses what challenges women often face in recovery from addiction and how we can prosper instead of just getting by. Katherine believes that the longer, we as women, remain silent over the struggles we face, the longer addiction remains in the dark. Yoga and meditation can be a powerful tool for women in recovery. As addicts, we often disassociate with our bodies. A self care yoga and meditation practice can allow us to reconnect with our physical bodies and process old emotions that hold us back from living the life we really want.

The Dr. Pat Show: Talk Radio to Thrive By!: April with Angels and The Angel Lady Sue Storm.  April showers bring May Flowers: That saying can be turned into Angel blessings shower down on you! This is the month for putting "spring" into your step and finding the path to pursue. Let the Angel blessings of love, happiness, and prosperity bring you joy.
