    World history of Abolitionism

    in Politics Conservative

    When thinking about the history of slavery one tends to think about the abolitionist movement. Generally speaking when we thing about this movement we tend to think about the Quakers and          their impact in the USA and perhaps beyond and rightly so.

    While it’s true the Quakers did much toward ending slavery I content the abolitionist movement started about the time Jesus of Nazareth ascended into Heaven. Paul’s Epistle to Timothy clearly illustrates the picture of a disdain for owning a human being.  Paul explains whey we have the law;

    “the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel. (I paraphrase).

    This then becomes a clarion call to the world actually that slavery was an abomination to God. That as Christians we can not abide by a person owning another person. This of course was taken seriously by both believers and non believers alike. To the non believer who owned slaves he saw an enemy of his enterprises. To the believer they came to truly understand what Paul meant when he said;

     In speaking to the Athenians, Paul stated that God "has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings" (Acts 17:26). We are all descendants of Adam. While we are divided between different nations and languages, we are all the same -- human beings created by the hand of God.

    CR Gibbs - If The Earliest Known Evidence of Mankind Was Uncovered In Africa...?

    in Education

    Host Historian CR Gibbs discusses  "If The Earliest Known Evidence of Mankind Was Uncovered In Africa Why Isn't History Taught From That Point On?" "Until Lions Have Their Own Historians, Tales of the Hunt Shall Always Glorify the Hunter” unknown. A group of restless men atop a ridge in the Afar desert of Ethiopia. A few of them are pacing back and forth, straining to see if they can spot fragments of beige bone in the reddish-brown rubble below, as eager to start their search as children at an Easter egg hunt. At the bottom of the hill is a 25-foot-long cairn of black rocks erected in the style of an Afar grave, so large it looks like a monument to a fallen hero. And in a way it is. Tim White and his colleagues assembled it to mark the place where they first found traces, in 1994, of “Ardi,” a female who lived 4.4 million years ago. Her skeleton has been described as one of the most important discoveries of the past century, and she is changing basic ideas about how our earliest ancestors looked and moved. In addition to Ardi, a possible direct ancestor, it is possible here to find hominid fossils from as recently as 160,000 years ago—an early Homo sapiens like us—all the way back to Ardipithecus kadabba, one of the earliest known hominids, who lived almost six million years ago. At last count, the Middle Awash project, which takes its name from this patch of the Afar desert and includes 70 scientists from 18 nations, has found 300 specimens from seven different hominid species that lived here one after the other.

    CELTICS TALK RADIO EPISODE 93 CELTICS IN PLAYOFF HUNT WITH THREE NEW PLAYERS

    in Sports

    The NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone. Danny Ainge made 2 moves shipping away Marcus Thorton and a 2016 first round pick courtesy of the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Isaiah Thomas. Ainge then sent Tayshaun Prince to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome. The Celtic's began the 2nd half of the NBA season taking on the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento. The Celtics are among 6 teams all fighting for the final 2 playoff spots in the eastern conference. The Celtics have a good shot to make the NBA playoffs despite not having any major stars and their chances of making the playoffs went up with the way the trade deadline went seeing teams like the Nets trade away players like Kevin Garnett and teams like the Heat lose players to season ending injurys like Chris Bosh with blood clot's. So it looks like it will be the Celtics fighting for the playoffs rather then tanking. We will breakdown the latest new's as well as hot Thomas, Jerebko and Datome have faired in their first week as Celtic's. Has Thomas shown he can be that difference maker many thought he would be after the team traded for him or did losing a 3 point shooter like Thorton come out to be too much. ADAM LOWENSTEIN aka Stats Adam will join the Celtics Talk Crew to discuss the Celtics performances in the back end of their western conference road trip coming out of the All-Star break

    Tough Talk Christian Radio

    in Christianity

    Tough Talk with Tony Gambone with his guest Larry Stockstill & Sandra Lee Hartsell:

    Larry Stockstill - As a missionary in Africa for two years and a senior pastor for twenty-eight years, Larry Stockstill’s ministry has been global and local. His ministry now involves winning men to Christ (Model Man), planting local churches (Surge) and strengthening character in leaders (Remnant). With six children all in ministry, he and his wife Melanie minister together worldwide strengthening the marriages and families of today’s Christian leaders.

    Sandra Lee Hartsell - I love to write prose. My first book has been called, "A Crime of Passion" and others have called it, "Illustrations of Inspiration". I love word illustrations. People that have read my writing relate their lives to it. I have wrote down everyday experiences. The title is called, "A Call to the Christians." I have 3 more prose books out. One is titled, "A Call to the Christians 2", "Latch Key Kids", and "Emotional Hearts." The last three books that I have done are children's books. They are "Adam Petty's Heartbeat". This book is based on the Victory Junction Camp in Asheboro, NC. Adam Petty had a passion for children. You can see the passion he had for children, as you read through this book that is about the camp. "Let's Go Feed the Animals" is based on the Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville, NC. Children love the photos that are in the book. "Once A Year" is about a yearly traditional that the Moravian church at Old Salem has continued since 1929.
