It started with a woman anxiously awaiting the healthcare.gov site going live. (As she said) It was like Christmas morning logging on to the healthcare.gov site for the first time. Pamela Johns was able to sign up on the site, get health insurance through the exchange and saved more than $100 a month in health insurance premiums. She took to Facebook to share the good news in a status update. Many friends congratulated her and one friend suggested the idea of creating a page for success stories like hers.
Pamela, along with said friend Bruce Bacon approached Rob Miller about his "ACA Signup Success Stories" page on Facebook. They agreed to work together to promote his page and get the truth of the "Obamacare" success stories out there amidst the government shutdown and the nasty talk about the troubled launch of healthcare.gov.
Within weeks, the site jumped from 12 likes to 700 likes to now over 10,000 likes on Facebook.
Pamela John, one of the purveyors of the ACA Success Stories truth will be joining us on The Social Spitball Show to talk about some of those stories. She will also share more about what she, Rob and Bruce are up to with so many others who have jumped in to make this page a success as well.
With the sharing of truth, comes the healing of our nation...quite literally.
Won't you call (646) 478-3349 and press 1 to share your ACA Success Story with Pamela, Barbara Dee, Bram Sarkowski and the listening audience?
This is most certainly a needed conversation. Let's get this most important conversation going...

With a hurricane of negativity & false ACA horror stories flying from the right, the truth is out there. The truth is negative (at the hands of Red State legislatures & Red State Governors), with denial of Medicaid Expansion money (already paid for by Red State taxpayers) costing lives. The truth is also positive, with hundreds of thousands of citizens getting more comprehensive coverage, as well as lower monthly premiums and lower deductibles.
Our first guest is Lindsey Benage, of Kansas, who has seen the negativity of Red State pushback, as manifested by ultra-conservative Gov. Sam Brownback and the Kansas legislature. People are most certainly dying, as evidenced by Mayor O'Neal walking to DC to raise awareness that citizens of his town Belhaven, NC are dying without the services at Pungo Hospital. Lindsey is passionate about speaking up for the lives of those that will certainly die without Medicaid or insurance. That is why she is organizing, with the help of others (including you), a nationally coordinated series of vigils to acknowledge the hurt that comes without the help of Medicaid Expansion or good health insurance coverage. Please tune in just after 7pm Eastern to hear Lindsey's story and to get more details about the effort to raise awareness through these vigils. She will have most of the first hour.
Our second guest is already a friend of the show. Pamela John has appeared once before (back in May), sharing many stories submitted by real folks who shared their ACA success stories. Please tune in after 8pm Eastern to hear more about her story and, more importantly, the ACA Success Stories!
With so many lives on the line, this will be an important show. Don't miss it! Let's get the conversation going...

It all started a week prior to July 17, 2010. I had been thinking that it would be nice to start a podcast. I talked to a couple of friends of mine, and they said that it would be fun to do. My idea was going to be a different podcast with a different friend every week, and then they would cycle through again. Well on that first day of my podcast, nobody was going to be available and I thought that I was going to have to do the first show all by myself. My friend Joe said that he might be able to call in and be my co-host. I waited and never heard from him. The show was about to start. I had the phone ready to start my show. It started, and boy was I nervous. I called the show A Possible Gay Inception becuase I was going to talk about Grease that I had just seen in the theater and the movie Inception that I had seen a couple hours before that. After about maybe 3 to 5 minutes my friend Joe did call in. What a relief that was. We discussed movies and whatever else. The show was ok, but not great. The next show I invited my friend Serjio over to record a show. We did good, but not great. The next week he came back and this time we had a format. the show was great. We had laughed and had a good time, and that's all that matters. We were off and running. We did several shows unless Serjio had to do something with the kids. When he wasn't available then Joe or Shawn would step in. It was such a blast. After about forty something shows, it was getting costly 40 bucks a month. So then I went to Godaddy.com and was fine there, but didn't know if anyone from blogtalk was listening to us. We did about 6 or 8 more shows and occasionaly did a teaser on blogtalk, but then life got in the way and we slowly stopped podcasting. That was in 2011. Then we met Kevin Smith in L.A. and that made us want to do it again, but alas we did not. Now it is 2015 and I am ready to do it again. This time with a different friend every week. So excited.
I've been a game show winner, a produced screenwriter, international traveler and now self-published author and radio talk show host. After losing my mom at the age of 15, I learned that tomorrow isn't guaranteed and if I wanted to live, I couldn't wait until I graduated, or until I found the perfect job or the perfect man (still looking for both of those), or until I reached retirement age. If I wanted to live, I had to do it now ... right now.
So I have taken advantage of the opportunities that have presented themselves to me and when there were no opportunities, I've made them. As a result, I've lived a life with very few regrets.
I started Get It Together Girl! to help women of all ages realize that you can live life on your terms and you can attain your definition of happiness and success; you just have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and take a chance.
My concept is a simple one: start where you are, use what you have and you can get what you want.

Strategies of Success
Brian A Cohen Host
Stories stick with us and that's why storytelling is an important skill to learn. Stories take us in, transport us, and allow us to live vicariously and visually through the experience of someone else. We think in pictures and when we tell stories we create a movie in the mind of our listeners and this is why stories are so memorable. Stories help us to connect with other people and accelerate interpersonal connection. Storytelling also helps anyone speaking or presenting in front of an audience. Learning how to confidently tell stories in a way that grips an audience's imagination is vital. In today's episode, Joanne Nall, a master storyteller and humorist will be talking with Chanti and Desiree over morning coffee and sharing some of her insights. Tune in and brush up on your own storytelling skills.
